In its native Russia, vodka is considered one of life's greatest pleasures. With its neutral taste and versatile alcohol, vodka can be enjoyed on its own or with a little extra flavour. Here are some ways to drink vodka.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Drinking Vodka Live
Step 1. Choose a bottle of vodka to drink
Most vodka lovers believe that drinking vodka without mixing any flavors or in its pure form is the most appropriate way to enjoy this drink.
- Vodka is usually made by fermenting rice or vegetables. Vodka made from rice will tend to be smoother and have a fruity taste, while vodka made from vegetables is more abrasive and has a medicinal taste.
- According to some vodka fans, a good vodka will taste creamier and smoother. The vodka will smell like rice and have a thick texture when frozen. While bad vodka will be rough, bitter, watery, and smells of medicine. If the vodka you drink feels like it burns your palate, it's likely to be of inferior quality.
- If you are confused about choosing vodka, choose a popular brand. Most people prefer the taste of Gray Goose, Absolute, Smirnoff, Ketel One, or Stolichnaya.
- If pure vodka feels too strong for you, choose a vodka with a flavor like green apple or vanilla. The added sugar contained in vodka can make it more delicious to drink.
Step 2. Put your bottle of vodka in the freezer for a few hours
This is not wine! Do you want this drink served cold possible.
Don't worry about your vodka getting frozen. Alcohol has a much lower freezing point than water and will stay liquid in a regular freezer
Step 3. Pour the vodka into a small glass
Pour just enough for a few sips. Remember, this is not a cocktail; vodka will get you drunk faster.
- A small glass is the usual container for pure vodka. Fill the glass until it reaches 3-5 millimeters below the tip of the glass.
- A shot glass can be used instead of a small glass.
Step 4. Drink the vodka little by little, don't swallow it right away
Focus on enjoying the taste rather than getting drunk.
- Smell the vodka as you spin it in your glass. Drink a little and let the taste sit on the roof of your mouth for a few seconds. Exhale through your nose to fully appreciate the aroma of the rice. Now swallow it and enjoy the remaining taste.
- Vodka was originally created to be a flavor enhancer in food, intended to be absorbed gradually like wine.
Step 5. Eat an appetizer between each gulp
This will help counter the flavor and balance the potency of the vodka.
- Russian drinkers refer to the appetizer as "zakuski" and it is customary to eat a light snack between each sip of vodka.
- Common zakuski include quiche, smoked fish, spicy sausage, olives, and cucumber.
Method 2 of 3: Choosing a Cocktail
Step 1. Try Screwdriver
Mix 1-1/2 ounces of vodka with 6 ounces of orange juice for the best drink. Add some ice cubes and stir with a spoon.
- For an even better drink, make a Mimosa Screwdriver. Mix 1 ounce of orange-flavored vodka with 4 ounces of freshly squeezed orange juice. Add a little orange bitters and a splash of extra dry champagne.
- Screwdriver is best enjoyed in the morning and is perfect for brunch.
Step 2. Drink Cosmopolitan
All you need is vodka, cranberry juice, Cointreau (orange-flavored liqueur) and lime juice.
- Add 2 ounces of vodka and 1 ounce of each other ingredient. Beat well with crushed ice.
- Coat the rim of the glass with sugar and add a lime wedge to make your drink look sexier.
- You can also add a little orange bitters to enhance the taste.
Step 3. Taste the Bloody Mary
This delicious and thick cocktail focuses more on spices to satisfy the taste buds on your tongue.
- Mix 1 ounce of vodka with 3 ounces of tomato juice, 1/2 ounce of lemon juice, a little Worcestershire sauce, a pinch of salt and pepper, and a splash of hot sauce. Add a little ice and stir gently.
- For a nice garnish, add a celery stick.
Step 4. Drink Sex on the Beach
Drink this! This cocktail is combined with a variety of fruit flavors to cover the strong taste of the vodka.
- Mix 1-1/2 ounces of vodka with 2 ounces of orange juice, 2 ounces of cranberry juice, and 1/2 ounce of Peach Schnapps.
- Fill the glass with ice, stir, then decorate the rim of the glass with the orange slices.
Step 5. Enjoy Sea Breeze
As refreshing as the name suggests, Sea Breeze is easy to make and even easier to enjoy.
- Mix 1-1/2 ounces of vodka with 1-1/2 ounces of cranberry juice and 4 ounces of grape juice.
- Add as much ice as possible. Stir, and garnish with lime wedges.
Step 6. Enjoy a Vodka Martini
The martini is a classic choice and is the official James Bond 007 drink, shaken, not stirred.
- Simply mix 1-1/2 ounces of vodka with 1/2 Triple Sec (orange-flavored liqueur) and 3/4 ounces of lemon juice. Fill half a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and pour the mixture into a glass containing a martini that has been sugared at the end of the glass.
- For added flavor, put a slice of lemon juice at the end of the glass and add some olives.
Method 3 of 3: Experimenting with Candy
Step 1. Flavor your vodka using Skittles
Like Starburst vodka, this candy cocktail is a modification of your childhood favorite with alcohol.
- Separate each Skittles according to taste. Unlike Starburst, this concoction is best enjoyed in a separate flavor. You will need 60 Skittles for each flavor you want to make.
- Put the Skittles in an empty water bottle. Use a funnel to pour 6 ounces of vodka into the water bottle. Beat until the vodka has a Skittles color.
- Let the mixture sit for a few hours to allow the candy to crumble and mix into the vodka. Strain the mixture using an everyday coffee filter, then pour the blended mixture into a sealable glass bottle. Let it freeze for a few hours. Your Skittle Vodka is ready to drink!
Step 2. Make a Gummy Bears snack mixed with vodka. While not a drink, this fruity alcoholic treat is a fun appetizer to go with your drink.
- Fill a Tupperware container with as many Gummy Bears as you want. Pour the vodka into the bowl so that it covers the top of the candy. Cover Tupperware and refrigerate for at least three days before eating.
- Try the Gummy Bears after two days to see if the alcohol strength is to your liking. If not, add or subtract some vodka from Tupperware.
- You can replace Gummy Bears with Gummy Worms, however, avoid Red Fish and Swedish Fish candies. These candies won't soak in the vodka and can sometimes produce a thick, unpleasant ingredient.
Step 3. Make a vodka mixed with Starburst
This fruit-flavored candy-substitute cocktail can be enjoyed with every Starburst flavour.
- Separate the Starbursts according to flavor or mix the candies according to the flavor you want. Fill an empty water bottle with 10 opened Starburst candies.
- Use a funnel to pour 7 ounces of vodka into the water bottle. Beat well until the vodka begins to have a starburst color. Let the mixture sit overnight to allow the Starburst to crumble and mix with the vodka.
- Strain the liquid using a regular coffee filter. This will help separate the pieces of starburst and make the solution smoother.
- Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Glass bottles with lids that can be closed are best. Freeze the cocktails for a few hours, then enjoy!
