Making Skittles vodka is a fun way to add a touch of fruity flavor and color to regular vodka. All you have to do is put your favorite Skittles combination in a glass or vodka bottle and wait for the candy to soak into the vodka. After that you can use Skittles vodka to make a brightly colored cocktail or even serve it as a sweet drink! Find out some of the different ways to make Skittles vodka below -- and you'll soon have a 'rainbow' taste!
Ingredients
- 1.75 liters of vodka per pack of Skittles permen
- A large bag of Skittles candy (a "movie size" bag)
Step
Method 1 of 3: Makes One Serving (25 ml)
Step 1. Separate the Skittles color that you want to use as a vodka flavor enhancer
Many people prefer not to use the green Skittles, which are lime flavored if you use the original Skittles; and purple, which is the taste of grapes in the original, as they can result in odd flavor combinations, or less appealing colors in the final result. However, you can include those flavors if you want. If you don't mind mixed flavors, skip this step.
Step 2. Add six Skittles to 25 ml of vodka
Keep stirring the mixture until the Skittles are almost completely dissolved. Note that the ratio of the number of Skittles to vodka varies with each recipe. You'll have to experiment to find your preferred mix before making it in a larger bottle.
Step 3. Strain the remaining "inner" Skittles
With a serving like this, you can figure out which flavor you like best and start making bottled portions, if you prefer.
Method 2 of 3: Skittles Filled Vodka Bottle
Step 1. Pour some vodka out of the bottle to make room for the Skittles candies
Step 2. Separate the Skittles candy by color
Step 3. Add the Skittles (20 to 25 per 350 ml of vodka)
Step 4. Let the mixture sit for a day or two
Shake occasionally so the flavors are well mixed.
Step 5. Strain the remaining Skittles from the vodka using a filter, such as coffee filter paper or a clean T-shirt
Step 6. Put it in the refrigerator overnight
Method 3 of 3: Bottle of Vodka Skittles in the Dishwasher
Step 1. Separate the candy granules by color from five 200 gram bags of Skittles
Step 2. Using 5 700 ml bottles, pour 300 ml from each bottle into a water container and put Skittles candy granules in each bottle
Step 3. Put the bottles in the dishwasher and turn them on on an intensive cycle
- One third of the way into the cycle, shake all bottles vigorously.
- Two thirds of the way into the cycle, shake all bottles vigorously.
Step 4. After the cycle is over, shake all the bottles again vigorously
Then put the bottles in the freezer for 2 hours.
Step 5. Once cool, the vodka will taste sweet
Take a filter, cover it with a piece of cheesecloth (muslin) or a coffee filter, place it over a large container of water and slowly pour the vodka through the filter.
Step 6. After the first bottle has been filtered, wash the bottle and pour back the filtered Skittles vodka
Step 7. Repeat the above two steps for all bottles, making sure they are cleaned between uses to prevent color contamination
Step 8. Place all bottles in the freezer until you are ready to drink them
Don't worry, the vodka won't freeze.
Step 9. You are done
Enjoy your delicious creations.
Tips
- If you want to speed things up, cut the Skittles in half before dipping into the vodka. Shake every 15 minutes. The candies will dissolve in an hour, not in a day. Or you can simply take the candies out once the color has dissolved.
- The lime green Skittles adds a sour taste to the drink, so if you want a sweet drink, leave the green Skittles and put the candies in separate bottles to make a sour lime vodka.
- At first start with small amounts of vodka and Skittles to experiment on the flavor combination that best suits your taste. You can continue the brewing process with more vodka and Skittles when you already know you like the taste.
- Another approach is to buy five bottles of vodka and five bags of Skittles. Then separate the candies and use one flavor for each bottle. (Or provide four filled and one empty bottles, to make room for the Skittles.)
- If you're using a t-shirt to filter vodka, make sure it never uses fabric softener or dryer sheets, as these will add (unwanted) flavors and harmful chemicals.
Warning
- Drink responsibly. Never drink while driving. Know your limits, and don't drink too much to get drunk.
- Do not drink if you are a minor in your country.
