If so, chances are you know the favorite food of one of the characters named Charlie Kelly, which is a piece of steak that is boiled "very well" in a pot of milk, and served with jelly beans. If you haven't seen it, the very popular milk steak is present in the episode "The Waitress is Getting Married". Interested in making it? Read on for this article!
Ingredients
- Milk Steak:
- 250 grams of beef shoulder pieces (top blade shoulder steak)
- 500 ml milk (preferably, use high-fat milk with a fat content of about 4%)
- 85 ml of honey
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon powder
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- Decoration:
- 100 grams of jelly beans candy (you can buy it in various online stores by the kilo)
Step
Step 1. Combine milk, honey, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder, and vanilla extract in a medium saucepan
Step 2. Heat the milk mixture, stirring well until the honey is completely melted
Step 3. Bring the milk mixture to a boil
Step 4. Slowly add the medium-sized pieces of steak to the saucepan with the milk mixture
Step 5. Bring the milk mixture back to a boil
Once it boils, reduce the heat to keep the milk hot when you use it to boil the steak.
Step 6. Cook one side of the steak for 5 minutes
While cooking, keep stirring the surface of the milk to prevent a layer of fat from forming.
Step 7. Flip the steak and cook the second side for five minutes
Step 8. Check the level of doneness of the meat
If you want an authentic taste, cook the steak until it's "very well done". In other words, make sure the inside of the steak is no longer pink.
Step 9. Let the steaks sit for a few minutes before serving
Step 10. Garnish the steak with as much jelly candy as you want
Tips
- For healthier steaks, use low-fat or fat-free milk.
- To boil larger steaks, use a larger saucepan and add the ingredients used.
- Generally, if you're cooking medium or low-quality meat using standard cooking methods, you'll need to soak the meat first in the spices to make it softer when cooked. However, you can skip this step in this recipe. However, you can still do it if you want.
- If you want to serve steaks with a more 'expensive' taste, try choosing the jelly candy variant with a luxurious taste.
