Do you want to learn to draw stars? By following these steps, you will be able to draw either a regular pentagon star or a 6 sided star in no time.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Draw a pentagon star
Step 1. Draw an inverted "V"
Starting at the bottom left side of the image, connect the dots down and to the right with a pencil. Don't lift the pencil off the paper until you're done.
Step 2. Draw a straight line in the top corner to the left
Cross the first line about 1/3 of the way to the "\" without lifting the pencil off the paper.
Step 3. Draw a straight horizontal line across the image, ending on the right side
Cross the inverted "V" shape about 1/3 of the way down: "-". Again, don't pick up the pencil.
Step 4. Draw a straight line at the bottom corner back to the starting point
The line will connect with the lower left corner of the image: "/".
Step 5. Lift the pencil from the paper
Your star has been completed.
Step 6. Delete the line inside the star if you don't want it to appear in the center of the star
Method 2 of 3: Draw Hexagon Stars
Step 1. Start by drawing a large circle using a compass
- Place the pencil into the pencil holder on the compass. Then place the dot in the center of the sheet of paper.
- Rotate the top of the compass while holding down the dot. The pencil will draw a perfect circle, centered around the point.
Step 2. Draw a dot at the top of the circle with a pencil
Then move the compass point until it is above the point. Do not change the compass radius as you move.
Step 3. Rotate the compass to make a pencil mark that crosses the circle on the left
Repeat this on the right side of the point where you drew.
Step 4. Move your point to one of the marks without changing the compass radius
Make another mark on the edge of the circle.
Step 5. Continue moving the compass points to the new mark and draw the marks until there are a total of 6 equidistant marks
Get rid of the compass.
Step 6. Use a ruler to make a triangle starting at the top of the mark on the edge of the circle
- Place the pencil on the top mark. Skip the first mark to the left and connect the top mark to the second mark to the left.
- Draw a second mark straight to the right, past the mark at the bottom.
- Finish by connecting the mark to the top mark. This will complete the first triangle.
Step 7. Create a second triangle starting with the mark at the base of the circle
- Place the pencil on the bottom mark. Connect to the second mark to the left by drawing a straight line.
- Draw a straight line across to the right, past the top mark.
- Finish the second triangle by drawing an additional line back under the mark on the edge of the circle.
Step 8. Delete the circle
Your hexagon star is done.
Method 3 of 3: Easy Ways to Draw Hexagon Stars
Step 1. Draw an inverted triangle
Step 2. Draw a regular triangle
Tips
- Practice a lot.
- To help children remember how to draw a pentagon star, use this rhyme from Eric Carle: "Down, up, left and right, draw a star, oh impressive."
- To draw a hexagon star, just draw an inverted top triangle and bottom triangle, this is an easier and faster way. You only need a pencil and ruler.
