No matter your age, there's no denying that playing with slime is fun! The texture is chewy, sticky, and fun to squeeze and poke. The most popular way to make it is to use glue and borax, but not everyone has it. However, that doesn't mean you have to give up the fun of making and playing slime because all you need is shampoo and a few extra ingredients!

Method 1 of 3: Using Shampoo and Cornstarch
Step 1. Pour 120 ml of shampoo into a bowl
The thicker the shampoo, the better the final result. Choose colors and fragrances according to your taste.
Step 2. Mix in the dye or glitter, if you like
You can add a few drops of liquid food coloring to the bowl if your shampoo is white or clear. If you want shimmery slime, add a little glitter. Stir everything with a spoon.
Step 3. Add 280 grams of cornstarch
Stir with a spoon. If you want slime with a thick texture, your slime is ready. However, if you want a slimmer, gooey slime, read the next step!
If you can't find cornstarch, use cornstarch
Step 4. Occasionally mix a tablespoon of water
You may need up to six scoops (90 milliliters) of water. The more water you add, the softer your slime will be. If you want slime that's tough like dough, you probably don't need as much water.
Step 5. Knead the slime by hand
Eventually, the slime will absorb as much water and cornstarch as possible. When that happens, your slime is ready to play! Squeeze the slime out of the bowl and let it run between your fingers. Ugh, ticklish!
- Store the slime in an airtight container after you finish playing with it.
- You may need to add a quarter teaspoon of water to refresh the slime the next day.
Method 2 of 3: Using Shampoo and Salt
Step 1. Pour a small amount of thick shampoo into a bowl
You can use any type of shampoo, but thicker shampoos give better results. Choose the color and fragrance that suits your taste.
Step 2. If you like, mix in a little liquid bath soap
Liquid bath soap helps make your slime thicker. The amount of shampoo and body wash is the same. Stir the two ingredients until well blended.
Make sure your shampoo and liquid soap are the same color. Otherwise, your slime will be cloudy
Step 3. Mix the salt until the shampoo thickens
There is no exact measure of how much salt is needed, because the reaction of shampoo varies depending on the brand. Just add a pinch of salt and stir. Keep adding and stirring the shampoo and salt mixture until it clumps.
Step 4. Freeze the shampoo for fifteen minutes
Once the shampoo has clotted, put the bowl in the freezer. Leave it for fifteen minutes.
Step 5. Play with slime
Fifteen minutes later, the slime has thickened and is ready to play! When you're done playing, put it in an airtight container. You may need to freeze again for another fifteen minutes if the texture turns too mushy.
Method 3 of 3: Using Shampoo and Toothpaste
Step 1. Put the conditioning shampoo or 2 in 1 shampoo in a bowl
Shampoo with a 2 in 1 formula is the best type of shampoo for this method. Choose a fragrance that matches the aroma of min.
You can also use regular shampoo, as long as it's thick in texture
Step 2. Add toothpaste
It doesn't matter if you use regular toothpaste or gel. The amount of toothpaste you need should be as much as the shampoo.
Step 3. Stir with a spoon
Keep stirring until the color is consistent and well blended. When you stir, the shampoo and toothpaste will mix and form a putty-like slime.
Step 4. If necessary, adjust the consistency
If your slime is too thick, add more shampoo. However, if it's too runny, try adding the toothpaste. Add, then stir until smooth.
Step 5. Play with the slime
This slime won't be as chewy as factory made, but it's still fun to poke and knead. When finished playing it, store it in an airtight container.
Tips
- Add a little glitter or glittery confetti to make your slime even more shimmery.
- Add food coloring for a bolder color. You can also use watercolors. Use food coloring or green watercolor for a more classic slime color.
- Store the slime in an airtight container when you're done playing with it.
- Slime can get messy when played. So, play on the table. Don't get it on your carpet or clothes.
- Slime cannot continue to be played because it will eventually dry up.
- You can use a children's shampoo that contains conditioner or a Tresemme brand of shampoo.
- You can also add beads for a rough, hard-textured slime!
- Don't give slime to babies. They may eat it (especially if you made it from inedible ingredients).
