You can spend IDR 500,000 or more on a pretty necklace in a trendy shop, or you can make your own with just a few tools, some free time, and a little creativity. You can make a variety of necklaces of your own, from beaded necklaces to button necklaces. If you want to know how to make your necklace in just a few minutes and add a cool accessory to your jewelry box, follow these steps.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Simple Beaded Necklace
Step 1. Prepare a piece of stainless steel wire
You should look for nylon-coated steel wire in 19, 21, or 49 strands. This measure will ensure that the strands don't get tangled and your necklace will last a long time. This wire is transparent or light in color, and won't show up on your necklace unless you want a necklace with visible strands of wire.
Step 2. Cut the wire as long as you want
You can determine the length of the necklace by measuring the circumference of your neck. If you want to make a choker, the size should be tighter around the neck, and if you want to make a looser necklace, the wire will be longer. You should always make a necklace that is slightly longer than your neck circumference.
- If you're not using a necklace clasp, you'll need to add about 7.6-10.1 cm to the length you've measured to calculate the length of the wire you'll be tying, and if you're using a hook buckle, you'll need to add about 10, 1-20, 3 cm on necklace length.
- If you don't use a clasp, keep in mind that your necklace will have to be tucked away from your head so you'll need to take that into account when determining the length of the necklace. If you want to make a necklace without a clasp, you can tie and untie it as you put on or take off your necklace, but this process will take some time.
Step 3. Align your beads
You will need to choose the pattern of beads you will use to make the necklace, before strung it on the wire. If you make the pattern yourself while stringing the beads, you may change your mind in the middle of making it. But if you only use one type of bead, then this part becomes very easy.
- If you are using several types of beads, you should choose an interesting, repeating pattern or focus on the center of the necklace.
- You can lay the wire horizontally under the patterned beads to ensure that you are using the right number of beads.
- You don't need to cover the entire wire with beads. Leave a few inches of wire at the ends, or even half the wire without beads. It's up to you.
Step 4. Tie a knot at the end of the wire
This knot will keep the beads from slipping off the wire. If the bead has a larger hole, you may have to knot it twice. Make sure that you leave a 5-7.5 cm "tail" on the other side of the knot so you can use it to tie the necklace later.
Step 5. Prepare your needle
Insert the wire through the eye of the needle. The needle will make it easier for you to thread the beads on your necklace. You can also thread your necklace without using a needle, but this is more difficult and requires more finger dexterity.
Step 6. Use a needle to thread the beads into the necklace
Simply insert the needle into the beads, one at a time, and slide the beads up to the end of the knotted wire. Continue until you have threaded all the beads into the necklace. Then, remove the needle and tie another knot at the end of the necklace. You should make the knot on the necklace the same distance from the other end, which is about 5-7.5 cm.
Step 7. Tie the two ends of the necklace together
You can use a dead knot, a double knot that will fasten the two ends of the necklace together. Now that your necklace is finished, you can wear it and start to amaze your friends, as well as look more stylish in your daily activities.
Method 2 of 3: Button Necklace
Step 1. Choose your buttons
You can use the old buttons you have, buy them from a craft store, or combine old buttons with new ones. Align the buttons on a smooth surface until you are satisfied with the color combination you have created for your button necklace.
Step 2. Find a piece of stainless steel wire
You should look for nylon-coated steel wire in 19, 21, or 49 strands. This measure will ensure that the strands don't get tangled and your necklace will last a long time. When you've found the right wire, cut it to the length you want.
Remember to leave a gap of at least 10-20 cm to attach the hook buckle at the end
Step 3. Tie the hook buckle on one end of the wire
This will secure the end of the wire and will also secure the button to the end of the necklace. When you're done tying the buttons, you can tie one end of the pair buckle to the other end of the wire.
Step 4. Align the buttons in the order of the pattern
Choose a pattern for the buttons, either alternating or randomly. You can lay the wire horizontally under the button pattern to ensure that there are enough but not too many buttons.
Step 5. Thread the buttons on the necklace
Once you've selected the button pattern, thread the wire through both holes on the button until it's all attached to the necklace. Remember to leave enough room so the remaining wire can be tied to the ends of the paired buckles.
Step 6. Attach the hook buckle to the other end of the necklace
This will complete the creation of your button necklace.
Step 7. Enjoy your new necklace
Have fun with this cool necklace in a variety of dress styles.
Method 3 of 3: Other Necklaces
Step 1. Make a more elaborate beaded necklace
This beautiful necklace is similar to a simple beaded necklace, but requires a clasp and a little more effort. You don't need a needle to thread the beads on the necklace.
Step 2. Make a shell necklace
This cute necklace requires one or more shells, a drill to drill holes in the shells, and some basic materials to make the necklace.
Step 3. Make a hemp necklace
To make this cool necklace, you will need to braid some hemp strands and attach some beads to the necklace.
Step 4. Make a paste necklace
You can make this fun necklace with a piece of string and colorful pasta beads.
Tips
- Use a strong elastic strap for adjustment when putting it on and off.
- Use a needle with a large hole for ease of use.
