You can make paper trees as decorations, gifts, or just having fun doing your craft hobby. Making a paper tree is not difficult. You can use cardboard, newspaper, or brown paper bags to make a paper tree and make it a centerpiece of the party room.

Method 1 of 3: Making a Tree out of Cardboard
Step 1. Fold the brown cardboard in half and start drawing the tree
Draw half of the tree shape centered on the folded paper. Also draw the trunk and branches. To make this tree, you will need four pieces with the same image.

- Dig into your creativity when creating a tree shape with branches sticking out in different directions.
Step 2. Cut out your tree image

Use hot glue to glue the two sticks together. Repeat on the other two sticks. Then, glue the two sets of rods.
- Do not glue the branches. You only need to glue the stem and let the branches spread in various directions to make it look more natural.
- The trees will make a "+" shape with each folded side joining together in the middle.
- This form will provide balance so that the tree can stand upright.
Step 7. Prepare the leaves
Use lightweight paper to create tiny leaves that will be attached to the tree. If you give a touch of green, yellow, or red with different gradations, your tree will look more natural.
- Fold a sheet of paper into a small square.
- Draw a leaf shape on the folded square.
- With sharp scissors, cut out the leaf shape on the folded square and you'll instantly get several strands at once.
- Prepare enough leaves to decorate the tree.
- You can use a leaf image template to print multiple leaves, then cut them individually.
Step 8. Glue the leaves to the tree
Use craft glue or hot glue to glue the paper leaves to the tree. Keep covering your tree with leaves until you get the results you want.
Method 2 of 3: Making a Tree Growing Up from Newspaper
Step 1. Glue the newspaper pages
Prepare 6 sheets of newspaper. Glue the six sheets.
Step 2. Roll up the newspaper
To make it easier, use a cardboard roll as a reference.
Step 3. Take a cardboard roll
Gently remove the cardboard from the newspaper roll. Make sure that the roll of newspaper does not change shape when you remove the cardboard.
Step 4. Cut the top of the newspaper
Grasp the bottom of the roll of newspaper, then cut off the top.
- Use scissors to cut from the top to the middle of the roll.
- Slide up to a quarter circle and cut again to the same length.
- Repeat up to two times until there are 4 sticks of equal length.
Step 5. Fold the newspaper rods backwards
Gently fold each rod back until you can see the inside of the roll. Don't fold it tightly. Just bend it a little.
Step 6. Grow your tree
Now is the time to play with your newspaper tree and grow it!
- Hold the roll base with one hand.
- Pinch the innermost part of the newspaper roll and pull it up.
- The newspaper tree will get taller as you pull it up. The tassel strip will expand like a branch, revealing a growing tree.
Method 3 of 3: Creating an Old Tree from a Chocolate Bag
Step 1. Draw a horizontal line around the paper bag
Place the paper bag on the table. Mark a point 10 cm from the bottom of the bag.
Step 2. From the mouth of the bag, cut to the mark made earlier
Cut the paper bag down towards the marking points on all four sides. Open the paper bag to make it easier for you to cut all four sides.
Now, the top of the bag is divided into four equal pieces
Step 3. Roll up the paper bag
Roll up the bag. Your pockets will look wrinkled. Unroll, then open the paper bag.
Step 4. Make a tree trunk
Roll the bottom of the bag up to the marking point. This will open the pocket slightly and allow you to roll it more tightly at the marking point.
Step 5. Create tree branches
The top four strands of the bag will become the main branches of the tree. To make branches, you need to cut each of the strands into smaller, tassel-like sections. Then, roll each tassel to form a branch.
- Take the first strand and roll it up halfway from the base.
- Cut the first strand up to the part that was rolled earlier. You can make 1, 2, or 3 tassels.
- Roll each other strand. You can roll it from end to end, or just half and make more new tassels to roll.
- Continue until all the tassels are rolled into a stem.
- Repeat this step with the other strands. Try to make different stem shapes.
Step 6. Create the root
With scissors, make four small cuts at the base of the tree. Then, carefully roll the four pieces together to form a root.
Step 7. Give the finishing touches
Elevate the paper tree and check first. You can add twigs until the paper tree looks the way you want. You can pluck the leaves and stick them, although without them your paper tree will still be beautiful.
Tips
- Make more leaves than needed to fill the tree. That way, you have plenty of options to get the best one for sticking to the trunk.
- Add embellishments like stem and leaf details or a tiny bird's nest on a tree.
- Make more trees to create a forest.
- To get a sturdier trunk for the tree from a paper bag, add rocks or heavy objects at the bottom of the bag.
