Bubble slime can be a really great way to have fun with kids as well as teach them a little bit about science! There are many ways to make bubble slime quickly and easily at home. This article will provide information on how to make toy slime with a crunchy outer layer or slime that can be blown to make bubbles.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Making Crispy Bubble Slime
Step 1. Pour 350 ml of white glue into a bowl
You should use liquid white glue. Don't use gel, paste or stick glue because it won't work! White glue can be purchased online or at a store that sells school supplies. Depending on the volume of the bottle, you may have to buy several pieces.
Step 2. Cover the glue with the hand soap foam
You can pump soap straight out of the bottle. Pump enough soap to cover the entire surface of the glue. The foam layer should be about 2 cm thick.
Step 3. Stir in the glue and hand soap
Use a spoon or stirrer to stir the two layers together until well combined. You can use metal, wooden, or plastic utensils to mix up the slime, but metal may be more difficult to clean.
Step 4. Add a layer of shaving foam, then mix again
Spray a 2 cm layer of shaving foam over the mixture. The entire surface should be covered in shaving foam before you start stirring.
Make sure you use shaving foam because shaving gel won't work
Step 5. Mix in additives such as glitter, food coloring, or paint (optional)
If you want colored or shiny slime, add a few drops of dye and glitter now. You can also use any paint, but avoid oil-based paints as they will make the slime greasy.
Step 6. Add a few drops of liquid detergent to activate the slime
Detergent is an ingredient that will make mucus thick and stick together. Add a few drops of liquid detergent and mix well.
- You can use any liquid detergent, but if you choose a scented one, the slime will choose the same scent!
- You can also use liquid starch instead of detergent.
Step 7. Use borax to activate the slime (optional)
Borax can also function as an activator. If you want to use borax, mix 1 teaspoon (5 ml) with cup (120 ml) water before adding to the mixture. However, be aware that borax can cause burns if mixed with other chemicals!
Step 8. Touch the slime to test its texture and shape
After adding the detergent, put your hands on the slime. The slime should remain intact when you lift it and can be put back down without sticking to your hand. If mucus is sticky or falling off, add a few more drops of liquid detergent and repeat the same test.
Do not add more than a few drops at a time. If you add too much, the slime will become tough and difficult to form. You have to throw it away because it can't be used
Step 9. Knead the mixture and stretch for at least 3 minutes
Take a few minutes to knead and stretch the slime. This will allow all the ingredients to mix well and the slime won't harden before you store it.
Step 10. Press the slime into the bottom of a resealable plastic container
Take a plastic container with the bottom about the size of the slime. Press the slime so that it sticks firmly to the bottom of the container.
Step 11. Add a thin layer of shaving foam over the slime (optional)
Adding a 6mm layer of shaving foam over the surface of the slime before storing it will help make the bubbles bigger and crispier. Knead gently with fingers. It's okay if you can't knead all the foam into the mixture! This step is optional. Don't worry if you pass it.
Step 12. Let the slime sit for 2 days
Cover the container and let it rest for 2 days. This step gives the crisper bubbles a chance to develop. You can let it sit longer, but not more than a week.
Step 13. Get the slime out and have fun
After 2 days, spit out the slime and have fun popping bubbles! You can roll the slime into a ball, stretch it, or just knead and puncture the bubbles. Mucus can last up to 3-4 weeks.
Method 2 of 2: Making Stretchy Bubble Slime
Step 1. Pour 200g of white glue into a bowl
Usually white glue is sold in packages of various sizes. If you buy a 150g bottle, you have to buy 2 bottles. You can save the remaining glue for other purposes!
Step 2. Sprinkle 1⁄4 teaspoons of baking soda over the glue
You should sprinkle the baking soda evenly over the surface of the glue. It's okay if it's not perfect because you just want to prevent the baking soda from building up in one place. That will make it difficult for you to mix it evenly!
Step 3. Stir in the glue and baking soda
Use a spoon or stirrer to mix the baking soda and glue until smooth. Disposable stirrers are the best option because glue is difficult to remove from cookware!
Step 4. Mix in food coloring or glitter (optional)
Add food coloring or glitter if you want! Paint may not be suitable for this type of slime because the saline is not strong enough to break down the acrylic compound.
Step 5. Add a few drops of buffered saline solution, then mix
You can buy buffered saline solution online or at a supermarket, health care department or pharmacy. Make sure the label says “buffered saline solution” (ordinary saline can't be used because the results are unsatisfactory). Add a few drops to the mixture, then mix well.
Step 6. Wet hands with buffered saline solution and knead until stretchy
Pour a few drops of saline into your hands and rub until they are evenly distributed on your hands. Then, knead the slime until it is stretchy and no longer sticky.
If the mucus is still sticky after you've kneaded it for a few minutes, add a few more drops of saline. Don't add too much as it can break the slime structure
Step 7. Use a straw to blow bubbles
You can start playing with slime! Plug a plastic straw into the slime to blow bubbles. You can start using slime right now. Mucus can last up to 2 weeks if stored in a closed container.
