Blowing soap bubbles is so much fun! Most importantly, you don't need to buy a special soap bubble solution to blow it. Making soap bubble solution is quite easy to do. You can make as many as you want so you can blow as many soap bubbles as you want.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Bubble Solution 1
Step 1. Gather the following materials:
soap, bowl, water, spoon, sugar and thickening agent (optional).
Step 2. Pour dish soap or baby shampoo into a bowl or cup, then add water
The ratio will depend on the soap and the type of water you use. Do a test run to find out which formula works best for you. Some examples of formulas you can try will be explained later.
Step 3. Add a thickening agent, such as glycerin, sugar, or corn syrup
However, be aware that if you add too much thickening agent, the solution will become too viscous and unable to form bubbles.
Step 4. Stir the ingredients carefully until smooth
Step 5. Take the soap bubble solution outside and blow as many bubbles as you want
Alternatively, you can store and let the solution sit for a day for better soap bubbles.
Method 2 of 3: Bubble Solution 2
Step 1. Pour warm water into a bowl
Step 2. Mix the soap into the water
Step 3. Add a little glycerin/sugar/corn syrup to the soapy water mixture
Pour in 1 tablespoons (or about 20 milliliters).
Step 4. Stir the solution until all ingredients are evenly mixed
Step 5. Add shampoo to the solution
After that, stir until evenly distributed.
Step 6. Pour the mixture into a container with a lid
Step 7. Blow soap bubbles from the prepared solution
Go out into the open and have fun with your soap bubble solution.
Method 3 of 3: Making Bubble Sticks
Step 1. If you don't have a ready-made bubble wand yet, you can make your own bubble holes from thin wire or a pipe cleaner
Simply make a loop from one end of the wire so you can later blow soap bubbles through the loop. You can also make holes in the shape of hearts, squares or other shapes if you are good enough at bending the wire.
Step 2. Use a wire hanger to make a very large bubble wand
To make it, bend the hanger's triangular frame into a circle. It's not really necessary to follow this step, but the circular shape will make the stick look prettier.
- Shape the hanger hook to become a stick handle.
- Wrap the stick with adhesive tape if you wish.
- Use a pipe cleaner to keep the bubble solution layer on the circle. Wrap the pipe cleaner on the outer surface of the wire loop. Use one cleaning pipe for a circle with a diameter of 2.5 centimeters. Fold the end of the cleaning tube (approximately 10 mm long) into a kind of hook using “cut” pliers. Repeat the same process for the other cleaning pipe, hooking the two hooks together and twisting them with pliers. Keep wrapping the circle until it is completely covered by the cleaning pipe. Hold both ends by twisting them as before. The cleaning pipe that you wrap in the circle serves as a reservoir for the soap solution needed to form bubbles. With a little practice, you can make huge, awesome bubbles up to 25 centimeters in diameter!
Tips
- Distilled water is found to be more effective than regular tap water because it contains several minerals that can damage bubbles.
- If you run out of bubble solution, the easiest way to make one is to mix dish soap and water. You don't have to go to the store anymore to buy bubble solution!
- You can use regular liquid bath soap instead of dish soap or baby shampoo.
- Look for an alcohol-free detergent for best results. If you can't find the product, pour regular detergent into a bowl and leave it overnight to allow the alcohol in the detergent to evaporate.
- To make a bubble cone out of paper, roll a sheet of paper into a cone shape and cut off the large end of the cone to form a neat circle. Dip the large end of the cone into the bubble solution (for the first time, leave the tip in the solution for 30 seconds) and blow air through the smaller end of the cone. Since there's a lot of bubble solution stuck to the paper, you can make big bubbles!
- If you don't have a container or pan large enough to dip a large bubble wand in, get a cardboard box large enough and cut it into short trays that are (of course) large enough to fit the diameter of the bubble wand circle. Place the tray in a large plastic bag (eg a plastic trash bag). After that, press the plastic against the tray until the entire tray is covered with plastic. Pour the solution into a tray lined with plastic and start playing with soap bubbles.
- Let the soap solution sit for a day before using it to make the bubbles better.
- Plastic drink can rings (six-pack rings) make great bubble wands. Simply dip the ring in a large, short tray of bubble solution, then swing the ring around to make large bubbles.
- Soap bubbles last longer in humid weather. Dry air can damage bubbles (water based ones).
