An essential oil blending device or diffuser can spread a fresh scent in your home. However, these devices need to be cleaned periodically. After each use, clean the device thoroughly. Once a month, do a deeper wash. Clean the device regularly and be careful not to build up dirt on the tool.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Cleaning the Device After Use
Step 1. Drain the remaining water into the sink
Pour water from the back to prevent it from spilling and hitting the device's buttons. If water gets inside the buttons, the device may be damaged.
Step 2. Clean the inside and outside of the device
Pour some dish soap onto a cotton brush. Use the brush to wipe the inside of the water compartment and remove dirt, and scrub the outside.
Use only natural cleaning products that do not contain added chemicals. Harsh chemicals can damage the device
Step 3. Rinse the device
Use a washcloth that has been moistened with water. Scrub the inside and outside of the water compartment. By rubbing it, you can remove the remaining soap. Make sure you wipe the device with a clean rag thoroughly until the juice that comes out of the cloth is clear or clean.
Step 4. Clean the mist chip
Usually, there is a small ultrasonic chip inside the water compartment. If you do not know the exact position, consult the device manual. Use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to rub the chip.
Method 2 of 3: Performing a Thorough Clean
Step 1. Fill the device with water
Use clean tap water at room temperature. Fill the compartment to half full.
Step 2. Pour in 10 drops of vinegar
This material can clean, disinfect, and destroy any oil remaining inside the device. Add about 10 drops of vinegar to the water compartment.
Make sure you use pure white vinegar. Do not use vinegar that already contains added chemicals
Step 3. Run the device for 10-15 minutes
Connect the device to a power source and turn it on. Let the device run for 10-15 minutes. In this process, the remaining oil attached to the walls of the water compartment will be released.
Step 4. Drain the water from the compartment
After the device is finished turning on, unplug the cable from the power source. Drain water from the compartment into the sink, as you would use the device as usual.
Step 5. Wipe the inside of the compartment
Use a soft cloth, earplug, or a small brush to scrub the inside of the water compartment. Focus cleaning on the remaining dirt stuck to the walls of the compartment. The remaining dirt can reduce the intensity of the aroma when the device is used.
Make sure you also remove any remaining dirt on the chip. If the chip is clogged, the device may not function properly
Step 6. Wipe the outside of the device
After you've cleaned the inside of the compartment, prepare a soft patchwork, cotton swab, or brush that has been dampened with water. Scrub the exterior of the device to remove any dirt, dust, or other smudges (eg fingerprints).
Be careful not to spill water or wet the buttons and the bottom of the device
Method 3 of 3: Avoiding Common Mistakes
Step 1. Read the manufacturer's instructions first
Most confounding devices can be safely cleaned using the methods above. However, keep in mind that every device is different. Maybe the device you are using requires a special cleaning process. Therefore, read the instructions or the user manual when you want to clean the device.
Step 2. Discard water and oil after each use of the device
The longer water and oil stay in the compartment, the more difficult it is to clean the device. Every time you clean the device, remove excess water and oil. That way, the device can be kept clean and you don't have to wash it often.
Step 3. Unplug the device from the power source and empty the compartment before cleaning
Never wash the device while it is plugged into a wall outlet. Every time you are going to clean it, unplug it from the power source. If there is still water or oil remaining in the compartment, drain the water or oil before cleaning.
