This wikiHow teaches you how to add a hyperlink in a PDF document using Adobe Illustrator on a Mac or PC.
Step
Step 1. Open or create an Illustrator file
The trick, double-click on the yellow application icon that reads the letter " Ai, " then click File in the menu bar at the top of the screen, and:
- Click Open… to open an existing document, or
- Click New… to create a new document.
Step 2. Create the object or text that you want to hyperlink

If you want to add hyperlinks to the text, convert the text to outline. The method:
- Click Selection Tool, the black arrow at the top left of the Toolbar on the left side of the screen.
- Click the text you want to hyperlink.
- Click Type. It's in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Click Create Outlines. This feature is in the middle of the menu. The text is now a set of editable unit objects.
- Click Object. It's at the top of the screen.
- Click Group. It's near the top of the menu. Your text outline can now be moved as a group.
Step 3. Arrange the text or object
Use the Selection Tool to select the text or object and place it where you want the hyperlink to appear.
Step 4. Click the Type Tool
This device is icon T on the top right of the Toolbar on the left side of the screen.
Step 5. Click anywhere in the document
After doing that, you will generate a text box.
Step 6. Type your hyperlink URL
Prefix it with "http:" so that any PDF reader app will recognize it as a live link. Then, write down the web address you want to link to.
Step 7. Click the Selection Tool, the black arrow on the top left of the Toolbar on the left side of the screen
Step 8. Use the Selection Tool to move the link in front of the text object you want to link to
If you want, you can resize the URL so that it fits directly above the text or object. Do this by clicking and holding the small rectangle in the selection box that surrounds the text, then dragging or compressing the URL text until it matches the dimensions of the object or text from which you are linking
Step 9. Click "Opacity:
from the drop-down menu.
It's at the top of the Illustrator window.
Step 10. Click 0%
The hyperlink above your text or object is now invisible.
Step 11. Click File in the menu bar at the top of the screen
Step 12. Click Save As…
It's near the center of the menu.
Step 13. Name the file
Fill in the name in the field at the top of the dialog box.
Step 14. Click the "Format: drop-down menu"
" in the lower-left side of the dialog box.
Step 15. Click Adobe PDF
Step 16. Click Save
It's in the lower-right corner of the dialog box.
Step 17. Click the Save PDF button in the lower right corner of the dialog box
When the document is opened in a PDF reader application, the application will recognize your text or object as a hyperlink.
