A rectangular scarf can be a complementary accessory for various fashion models and something that must be owned by anyone who wants to have a unique appearance and a slightly alternative style. With a relatively low price, a scarf is a fun accessory to use. Scarves are also generally rather large in size and require special attention when folded so that they are well organized. Continue reading to experiment with different types of special rectangular scarf ties.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Triangle Bond
Step 1. Form a triangle
Place a rectangular scarf on the floor or on your front desk.
Fold it in half diagonally to form a triangle. This triangle need not be perfect
Step 2. Take the two longer ends of the scarf and lift them up
You will be holding the two smaller corners of your scarf triangle.
You can twist the ends to keep the scarf from moving and making it appear more pointed
Step 3. Position the triangular scarf on your chest
Bring both ends around the back of your neck.
Switch your grip, so that your left hand is holding the right end and your right hand is holding the left end
Step 4. Pull the ends of the scarf in circles in front of you
These two ends will be on the chest along with the front of the scarf.
- The scarf will hang in a triangular shape with the ends hanging down on either side. If the scarf feels too tight around the neck, grab the front and pull it gently to loosen it up.
- Make the knot as high or low as you like on the chest.
- Keep in mind, the position of the scarf should be loose and comfortable to wear.
Method 2 of 4: Necklace Tie
Step 1. Fold your scarf into a triangle
You can do this on an approximate basis without using a specific surface mat.
Position the scarf on your chest, as much as possible in the center
Step 2. Grasp both ends of the scarf and wrap it around the front
The scarf will cover the neck and appear in the front.
- Tie the ends of the scarf as loose or as tight as you think fit.
-
Leave the knot visible or place it under a layer of scarf.
If you prefer to leave your scarf ties visible, try experimenting with styling the ties to the right or to the left for a more asymmetrical look
Step 3. Tidy up
Your scarf can be easily changed and styled the way you want.
Depending on the size of your scarf, play with the length of the two layers of the scarf. The scarf ties can hang at the top of the neck or under the scarf, automatically creating a new look
Method 3 of 4: Vintage Bandana
Step 1. Fold both ends of your scarf in the middle
This is to make sure the ends don't dangle out when the scarf is tied around your head.
The two corners at the ends of the scarf may overlap. When you wrap the scarf around your head, all the corners by themselves will no longer be visible
Step 2. Fold the scarf into a single line
There are two ways you can use:
- Start folding from one end of the scarf until it reaches the other end of the scarf.
- Fold each side a little at a time until they meet in the middle.
Step 3. Twist the scarf and place it around your head
Start with the scarf at the base of your neck.
If you like a slightly asymmetrical look, position your head a little further to the left or to the right of the center of the scarf
Step 4. Cross the ends of the scarf in front of your head
The two ends will meet at the top of your forehead. This will make the scarf stronger and not fall off. Tie tight!
- The result will look like a twisted "x".
- Tidy your hair as the bandana begins to form.
Step 5. Tie the ends at the back
The scarf ties can be above or below your hairline.
Tuck the loose ends in the first layer of the scarf
Method 4 of 4: As a Sweatband
Step 1. Make a sweatband
The rectangular scarf can also be worn on the wrist as a sweatband.
- To make it, lay out the scarf and fold it into a triangle.
- Take the top end of the triangle and fold it in the middle, so that the scarf resembles the shape of a narrow trapezoid.
Step 2. Place your wrist on one end of the scarf
Use your thumb and forefinger to grip the ends.
- Use the fingers of the tied hand to keep the scarf in place.
- Keep the scarf firmly on the wrist as you wrap it around.
Step 3. Take the free end of the scarf and wrap it neatly around your wrist
Once you're done, remove the ends with your thumbs, tie them and tuck the ends in a scarf that has been tied nicely in your hands

- A rectangular scarf is an accessory that both men and women can wear, but men generally prefer to wear it around their wrist.
- Before you master the technique of tying a scarf, ask a friend to help you (especially when you tie a scarf around the wrist, since working with one hand is not easy at first).
