Samsak is a sports tool used to build strength and endurance in the legs and arms, as well as a means for intensive cardio training. Samsak is not only used by professional boxers or gym members. You can hang the bag on the ceiling, wall, or stand, which you can install yourself at home.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Hanging Bags with Supporting Beams
Step 1. Decide where to install the bag
Imagine the space in the house. Is there a workspace or basement? The amount of space in the house will determine the location of the placement of the bag.
- You can mount it on the wall or ceiling. To optimize your workout, it's a good idea to install the bag somewhere that allows you to move 360 degrees around the bag. With this position, you can practice leg movements, body movements, and so on.
- If not placed in the center of the room, the bag could damage objects or hit a wall and bounce off of you (this could injure you).
- Most people recommend hanging the bag from the ceiling in the garage or basement.
Step 2. Find a strong support beam
Support beams are short beams that run across the ceiling that are separated from each other. Usually, the distance between the support beams is 40-60 cm. Most of the people prefer to hang the bag on the ceiling to get good mobility. If you choose this, be sure to hang the sack on a strong support beam. In addition to being able to support a heavy bag, the beam must also be able to withstand the impact of the swing. The easiest way to find these beams is to use a stud finder.
- You can also use tapping to find the support beams. Knock all over the ceiling, and if you hear a hollow sound, there are no beams behind it. If you tap on a support beam, the sound will change and it won't be hollow because you're tapping a piece of wood.
- You can also find the support beams by taking measurements from the wall. Place the tape measure on the edge of the wall, then measure 40 cm. Continue measuring in 40 cm increments until you reach the desired location for attaching the bag. Double check to confirm the presence of support beams by tapping the wall.
- If not done properly, fixing the rafters on the ceiling can cause serious damage to your home. This is the reason why you should look for a strong support beam. Hanging heavy bags on rafters or ceiling joints can damage the drywall of your home.
- The support beams in the ceiling used to hold the sacks must be able to withstand a much heavier load than the sacks.
Step 3. Make holes in the support beams using a drill
Insert the eyebolt into the hole you made. Turn the bolt ring into the hole by hand before tightening it with a wrench.
Avoid replacing bolt rings with hooks as heavy bags can easily come off the hooks
Step 4. Hang the bag
Attach the chain to the corner of the bag. This chain is usually included when you buy the bag. Samsak are generally also equipped with an S-shaped hook that must be connected to the chain. The last step, connect the bag to the bolt ring.
Step 5. Check the safety of the bag
Hit the bag several times to check if it is in a secure and firm position. Repeat the installation if the bag looks weak and doesn't hold firmly in place.
Method 2 of 3: Hanging a Bag with a Hook
Step 1. Buy a hook
You can choose hooks ranging from cheap to expensive. Most hooks will come with the necessary bolts and nuts. Hooks can be purchased at sporting goods stores or the internet.
Step 2. Find 3 or 4 joists or joists in the ceiling
Use the stud finder to locate the beams or support beams in the ceiling. Be sure to use the bar in an area that allows you to move. The bag should be installed on the middle crossbar.
- The bars are generally placed every 40 cm. If you don't have a stud finder you can use a tape measure to measure every 40 cm from the edge of the wall. In some homes, the bars can be up to 60 cm long. Double-check its position by tapping it. If you hear a hollow sound in the ceiling, it means there are no bars. If the sound isn't hollow, you've tapped on the ceiling bar.
- If possible, choose a ceiling location where the joist meets the joist. For added support, you can place hooks in the center of the joist.
Step 3. Make holes in the bars in the ceiling using a drill
Use a spirit level (a tool to measure the level of a surface) so that the holes you make are perfectly aligned with the bars. When making holes, make sure you drill them in the center of the bar.
- You will need 3 inch (8 cm) wood screws. The threads on the screws should fit snugly and grip the bars in the ceiling.
- Use a drill bit slightly larger than the wood screw, not larger than the thread.
Step 4. Attach a 5x12 cm wooden plank to the ceiling
This serves as a place to attach the hook. This size is long enough to reach all the bars and support the screws. Attach the board to the ceiling using the holes you made and screws. The boards must be connected to each bar in the ceiling.
- If you have a joist, place a wooden plank in the middle. This is where the bag must be hung.
- You can use a 5x10cm board, but a 5x12cm or larger will provide a stronger support for the bag.
Step 5. Attach the hooks to the wooden board
Most hooks come with the necessary hardware to attach them to the ceiling. You will need a screwdriver, drill, or other tool to attach the hooks. Place the hook foot in the center of the ceiling joist.
- Never attach hooks to gypsum.
- Try putting a chain or a bag between the hook and chain. This will dampen vibrations, and will most likely protect the gypsum.
Method 3 of 3: Hanging the Bag in Other Ways
Step 1. Use wall hooks
If you're not comfortable hanging the bag on the ceiling, try hanging it on the wall. Most sporting goods stores sell wall hooks that come with the hardware needed to install them. This method is only recommended for brick walls. Other types of walls can be damaged if you do this.
The hook elbow must be screwed into the wall near the ceiling
Step 2. Buy a free stand
If your home doesn't allow you to hang the bag on the walls and ceiling, you can buy a free stand. Some models even provide wheels to make it easier for you to move. Free stands must be weighted so that they do not move when in use. A heavy free stand usually requires a weight of about 140 kg to keep it from shifting. However, a lightweight free stand may only require a weight of about 45 kg.
If you are using a rack to hang the bag, attach the chain that is in the bag to the S-shaped hook on the rack. It does not require any special installation procedures
Warning
- Mounting a bag on the ceiling can be dangerous. The bag is at risk of falling and you can get injured by getting hit by the chain or the bag itself.
- Installing a bag at home can result in structural damage. Make sure your home has the support needed to install the bag. Large wooden beams or diagonal supports on the frame of the house are perfect for ceiling-mounted bags. If your home doesn't have this, try another method of hanging the bag.
