Temporary tattoos are tattoos that are usually worn by children, for costume parties, or for your music party night, without having to go through the trouble of removing them later. Whatever the reason for your tattoo, at some point it will start to peel off and will need to be completely removed. Follow the various methods below for scrubbing, peeling, and removing tattoos.
Step
Method 1 of 5: Rubbing
Step 1. Apply a small amount of baby oil to the tattoo
Keep in mind that temporary tattoos are most resistant to soap and water, so oil is generally the best way to rub the tattoo.
- You can also pour a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball or a piece of paper towel. But alcohol can burn a bit.
- If baby oil is not available, use olive oil.
Step 2. Let the baby oil sit on the tattoo for a minute
This will allow the baby oil to seep into the tattoo (and skin) making it easier to rub off.
Step 3. Take a washcloth and rub the tattoo hard
The tattoo will start to clump together, and it's time to peel and rub. Keep rubbing until the tattoo is completely removed.
You can use paper towels in the sink
Step 4. Wash off the remaining oil using warm water and soap
Wash the skin until there is no oil left. Pat the tattoo area dry with a towel.
Method 2 of 5: Exfoliating
Step 1. Cut some tape from the roll
Transparent tape, such as Scotch tape, works better than non-transparent tape. Hang the piece of tape to the end of the table (or wherever you'll be removing the tattoo).
Step 2. Attach a piece of tape to the tattoo
Make sure you press firmly so that the tape adheres to the entire surface of the tattoo. Use your fingers to rub the tape into your skin.
Step 3. Peel the tape off the skin
The tattoo will come off with the tape. This process should be tried several times, especially if your temporary tattoo is large.
Step 4. Rub an ice cube where the temporary tattoo is
Do this after the temporary tattoo is completely removed. This is to reduce redness caused by the tape peeling off the skin.
Method 3 of 5: Cold Cream
Step 1. Apply cold cream to the temporary tattoo
Make sure the tattoo is completely covered by the cream.
Step 2. Let the cold cream soak into the skin
Leave the cream on for an hour or so to make sure it can remove the temporary tattoo.
Step 3. Wipe off the cold cream using a rag
Use warm water and soap to remove any remaining cold cream.
Method 4 of 5: Nail Polish Remover
Step 1. Wet a cotton ball with nail polish remover
If you don't have one, you can also use alcohol.
Step 2. Rub the temporary tattoo with a cotton ball
Rub it on the tattoo so it starts to peel. You may have to re-wet the cotton ball or use a new cotton ball, depending on how big your temporary tattoo is.
Step 3. Wash your skin with warm water and soap
Use a washcloth to rinse your skin where the temporary tattoo is. Use warm water and soap to remove any remaining nail polish remover.
Method 5 of 5: Makeup Remover
Step 1. Soak the makeup remover into a cotton ball
Step 2. Rub it over the temporary tattoo
Rub gently.
