Lice can be transmitted by direct contact with the hair of a person with lice, and, although rare, transmission can also occur through contact with personal objects such as combs, hairbrushes, hats or other head-wearing equipment belonging to a person with lice. Having lice has nothing to do with hygiene, hair length or how often you shampoo your hair. Getting rid of head lice is not a quick process. Combing and shampooing hair is very important. However, there are treatments that are applied overnight to speed up the tick control process. Make sure you repeat the treatment used after a week.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Using Homemade Topical Treatment
Step 1. Understand how natural products work against lice
There are plant oils that are effective for killing lice and their eggs, including tea tree oil, anise oil and ylang oil. Other products work by suffocating lice and can be used for treatment using a shower cap, such as mayonnaise, olive oil, petrolatum, or butter. Some people prefer alternative medicine over using over-the-counter drugs because they are cheaper and less toxic.
Step 2. Make a mixture of tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil
Mix 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil, 1 teaspoon of eucalyptus oil, with 2 tablespoons of hair tonic. Apply the mixture to the child's scalp. Leave it overnight. The next morning, rinse the mixture from the hair. Then, use a white conditioner to get rid of the lice. Use a lice comb (serit) to remove lice and dead eggs from your child's hair. Preferably, do it in a bright place.
If this or other treatment works well, the tick will die in 20 minutes
Step 3. Make a mixture of essential oils and olive oil for a nighttime treatment
Mix 4 tablespoons of olive oil with 15-20 drops of essential oil. Use a cotton ball to apply the mixture to the scalp. Rub thoroughly on the scalp with gentle movements. Let the mixture sit on the scalp for at least 12 hours. In the morning, comb her hair. Then wash clean. Some examples of essential oils that can be used include:
- Tea tree oil
- Lavender Oil
- Peppermint Oil
- Eucalyptus oil
- red thyme oil
- Nutmeg oil
- clove oil
Method 2 of 3: Using an Overnight Remedy with a Shower Cap
Step 1. Prepare a potion that will suffocate fleas
You can use olive oil, mineral oil, petrolatum, butter, or mayonnaise to suffocate the lice. Prepare in sufficient quantity to cover the entire scalp. For example, 4 tablespoons of petrolatum is sufficient.
Step 2. Prepare the work area
After preparing the necessary materials, select the room that will be used as a work area. Try choosing a room without carpet so it's easier to clean when you're done. Kitchen or bathroom or an area outside the house can be a good choice. Prepare gloves, clean towels, a bucket of hot water, and a shower cap. Ask your child to sit on a stool at a height that makes it easier for you to handle his hair.
Step 3. Pay attention to security
Wear disposable gloves. Ask your child to cover their eyes with a towel while you apply your mixture. Do not let the oil droplets get into the eyes accidentally.
This overnight treatment using a shower cap is not recommended for young children. The hat could have covered his face and made him unable to breathe. Instead, have your child wear a shower cap during the day
Step 4. Apply a generous amount of the mixture on the child's hair
Make sure you apply the mixture evenly all over your head (as close to the scalp as possible) and hair. Put a shower cap over your hair. Make sure the hat is not loose (tight, but still comfortable). Wear the hat for at least 8 hours.
Step 5. Remove the shower cap
Wash your child's hair with shampoo. Washing your hair will remove the concoction that could have suffocated the lice from your hair. If you are using an oily substance, such as petrolatum, use a dish soap that is effective at removing grease. Comb hair with a comb to remove dead lice and eggs. Read the article How to Kill Fleas Naturally for tips on using serit. After that, wash the child's hair again.
Method 3 of 3: Perform Follow-up Treatment
Step 1. Comb the hair
Even after an overnight treatment, you should still comb your hair with a series every night for three weeks to make sure there are no new lice. Don't forget to use serit. This comb has very tight teeth. It's best not to use plastic combs or the free combs that come with lice shampoo packages.
Step 2. Repeat the same treatment a week later
There is no currently available flea control product that kills all nits. This treatment is effective at killing lice that have hatched, but the eggs hatch at different times. So, it is possible that new lice hatch after treatment is carried out. After 7-10 days, repeat the natural treatment you did. Follow the same steps as before. This treatment will kill the newly hatched and adult fleas.
Step 3. Check the hair
Use a comb to divide the hair into sections. Check each section for live or dead eggs or lice. If you still find lice after the second treatment, consider trying another treatment or using the medication your doctor has prescribed. Never leave fleas untreated.
Step 4. See a doctor
While you should see your doctor as soon as you find the tick, you may also need to see him again for a follow-up consultation. If treatment is not effective after 3 weeks, see a doctor immediately. In addition, if your child is itching and scratching his head until the blisters, he could get an infection. If you suspect this is happening, seek medical care.

Many topical medications are available to treat lice problems. Some can be obtained without a prescription, while others need it. Lice may be resistant to some treatments. So you should try other treatments if your options don't work. Make sure you consult your doctor before using any of the following remedies:
- Permethrin 1% cream (over-the-counter)
- Malathion lotion 0.5% (by prescription)
- 0.33% pyrethrin shampoo (over-the-counter)
- 5% benzyl alcohol lotion (by prescription)
- Spinosad 0.9% (by prescription)
- Ivermectin topical lotion (by prescription)
Step 5. Clean the house and personal belongings
Lice cannot survive if they fall from their hair because they cannot eat. In fact, fleas will die in 1-2 days if they do not suck human blood. However, there is no harm in cleaning the house and personal belongings to prevent re-infection. Follow these steps:
- Wash all the sheets and clothes the child has worn today and two days before the treatment is carried out in the washing machine. Wash with hot water (55°C).
- Dry all items that have been washed in a tumble dryer.
- Take clothes that have only been dry cleaned to the dry cleaners.
- Soak a comb or hairbrush in hot water (55°C) for 5-10 minutes.
- Clean floors and furniture with a vacuum cleaner. Pay close attention to the areas your child uses to spend their time.
- Do not use fumigant sprays as they are harmful to humans..
Tips
- Head lice can survive up to 2 days after falling from the head.
- Head lice do not spread disease.
- You won't get fleas from animals because fleas only feed on human blood.
- Never use kerosene to get rid of child head lice. Kerosene is dangerous and can catch fire.
