Algae is an important part of biofuels (biofuels / renewable fuels) for future generations, but can be very disturbing to your fish pond. Algae growth can be controlled easily with good cleaning. Control of light and nutrients is key in managing algae growth.
Step
Step 1. Plan the location of the pond to take advantage of the shaded areas of your yard
However, try not to build a pond under a tree because the fallen leaves and sap will damage the pool water.
Step 2. Build or add your pond so that water from the yard doesn't run into it
Step 3. Install the bubble aerator
One of the causes of algae growth is the lack of water movement. By installing a bubble aerator in the deepest part of the pond and aerating it 24 hours a day, the water will move naturally in the pond so you create a healthy environment for your fish while simultaneously preventing algae growth.
Step 4. Use aquatic plants to prevent sunlight from shining on the water surface
You can use water hyacinth plants, fountain daffodils, and lotuses.
Step 5. Include sinkable plants like Elodea that use the nutrients the algae need to grow
Step 6. Put water snails in your pond
Water slugs will eat the algae in your pond.
Step 7. Put the tadpole into the pond
Tadpoles eat not only algae, but also mosquitoes and other insect larvae.
Step 8. Feed the fish only as much as the fish can eat in five minutes
The remaining food will rot and trigger algae growth.
Step 9. Clean the filters in your filtration system regularly
A clogged filter can kill good bacteria and allow algae to thrive.
Step 10. Use an ultraviolet light sterilizer
This sterilizer breaks down the cell walls of algae and kills them.
Step 11. Clean the pool surface with a skimmer or algae net
Step 12. Suck algae from the pond with a pond sucker
Step 13. Place the barley straw in a location that provides good water flow and sunlight
Barley straw will break down and increase the supply of hydrogen peroxide in the water and kill algae.
Step 14. Color the water using a special paint to treat the water
This paint will darken the color of the water making it difficult for sunlight to penetrate.
Tips
- Make sure you caulk the pump, filtration system, and ultraviolet sterilizer properly.
- Some types of algae are actually beneficial for ponds because they provide food for fish and control nitrate levels.
- If the amount of algae is already harmful to the fish in the pond, drain and scrub the pond completely. Fill the pond with new water and wait 24 hours before putting the fish back in.
