Catching ghosts is not easy because you have to know where to look for them, understand the best way to determine their whereabouts and catch them. You must also have strong courage to face fear! If this feels good to you, continue reading this article.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Looking for a Haunted Place
In order to catch ghosts, you must first know where the ghosts live. Reportedly, there are certain places that are favored by ghosts such as ancient cemeteries, school buildings that have been built for a long time, areas where there have been wars, and buildings that were once used as mental hospitals.
Step 1. Look for the ghost in the old house
Old houses that are 100 or 200 years old (not new ones built in the '70s) are great places to look for ghosts.
- Sometimes when someone dies, their spirit returns to where they died or a place they cannot leave, often this is their family home.
- These spirits are usually not evil (unless their death was violent), so for beginners, the home is a great place to start ghost hunting.
- You must first obtain permission before ghost hunting on private property.
Step 2. Look for ghosts in the cemetery
Although cemeteries are usually a bit spooky at night, this place is perfect for catching ghosts.
Sometimes ghosts are unable to leave their physical bodies after death, and there are also ghosts (especially those who have not been able to continue their journey) who visit the funerals of their family and friends
Step 3. Look for the ghost in the old school
Some of the most favorite places for ghosts are places where tragic deaths have occurred, such as schools, prisons, and mental hospitals with old buildings.
Not all schools are haunted, but there may be an old school building in your area where a tragic accident such as a fire or smoke inhalation (which is common when classrooms are still using cast-iron stoves) has resulted in the death of students or teachers.
Step 4. Look for the ghost in the old prison building
Many prisoners died in prison due to old age, illness, were murdered, or were sentenced to death.
Even though prisoners do not die in prison, for some, this place can make people so lonely, frightened, and harbored such strong anger that their spirits return to them after death
Step 5. Look for ghosts in a mental hospital that is no longer operating
Mental hospitals are often notorious for the inhumane treatment of their patients, for example by means of shock therapy, immersion in water, and brain surgery causing much unnecessary suffering to the unfortunate victims. This is why the old mental asylum is such a perfect place for ghosts.
But beware, these spirits may still be angry and aggressive because they want to avenge the bad treatment they experienced when they were alive
Step 6. Look for ghosts in the former war area
Places where there is a lot of death are places that ghosts like, especially violent deaths. This is what makes the former war areas (even though they have been rebuilt) the main ghost hunting locations.
Step 7. Look for ghosts in locations where murders or accidents have occurred
As explained earlier, people who have died tragically or as a result of violence may return to our lives in spirit form.
Therefore, if you know enough about locations where murders or tragic accidents have occurred (e.g. someone died in a car crash, drowned, or a fatal fall,) this might be a good place to test your guts in ghost hunting
Step 8. Listen to stories from locals
The location of the most ghosts in a given area usually depends on the history of each place and the number of paranormal experiences recounted by local residents.
- That's why it's a good idea to talk to people in the area and look up information at your local library to find out where to go for ghosts.
- Many towns and villages have been reported to have experienced unusual activity on bridges, highways, or tunnels for decades.
Part 2 of 3: Confirming the Ghosts
Even if you can find the most haunted places, ghosts won't just tell you their whereabouts (almost always.) So you'll need to have some ghost hunting equipment ready that can identify ghosts and pinpoint their exact location.
Step 1. Use manual camera
Compared to digital cameras, manual cameras are usually easier to set up so you can more easily catch ghost sightings. The ghost will look like a blurry image or streak of light in a printed photo.
In addition, paranormal activity tends to be disrupted by the operation of electronic equipment so that digital cameras are usually unreliable
Step 2. Use a camcorder
The camcorder can also be used to capture unusual shapes or activities that suddenly appear at the ghost capture location you specify.
- Start recording this ghost capture from start to finish. It will be easier if you use a tripod to place the camera during this session.
- If you have a night mode on your camera, turn it on to make it easier for you to spot haunted places.
Step 3. Use a cassette tape recorder
Cassette recorders are sometimes capable of recording sounds that are not audible under normal conditions. These sounds will appear on their own the next time you play back the recording.
You may need to slow down or speed up the playback of this recording or use headphones to make it easier to interpret what you hear
Step 4. Use an electromagnetic field detector (EMF
) This detector serves to measure changes or disruptions in the surrounding electrical field which will indicate the presence of ghosts.
- A good EMF detector is able to capture interference with a wide frequency range.
- EMF detectors can be purchased online with prices ranging from IDR 250,000, 00 to millions of rupiah.
Step 5. Use other special equipment
Serious ghost hunters usually use other specialized equipment such as:
- Temperature scanner with infrared light to detect hot or cold places due to energy sucking by ghosts.
- Ion counter in the air to measure the levels of positive ions and negative ions in the air. Ghosts are believed to be able to channel high positive ions.
- However, these tools are expensive and require special knowledge to interpret the results.
Step 6. Download the app for ghost hunting
In recent years, many mobile phone applications for ghost hunting are available which are considered to be able to replace the special equipment for this expensive ghost hunting.
- More advanced applications include EMF detectors, sound detectors and electronic voice phenomena (EVP) instruments and other ghost detection capabilities.
- The reliability of these apps is still under hot debate, but it's certainly worth a try if you don't want to buy expensive equipment.
Step 7. Watch for any paranormal activity
In addition to relying on electrical equipment, you should also be alert if there are physical indications that might indicate the presence of ghosts.
- Be careful of objects that fall or move on their own.
- Listen carefully for unusual or unexplained sounds, such as thumping or banging.
- Watch for sudden changes in temperature, any unusual malaise or "goosebumps."
Part 3 of 3: Catching Ghosts
For some, being able to spot ghosts is enough to satisfy them, but there are also those who want to go further and actually catch the ghost. You should also think carefully before deciding if you want to catch a ghost because you don't want to feel haunted for the rest of your life! If you want to continue, use one of the two methods described below.
Step 1. Use the box and do the funeral
If you want the troubled spirit to rest in peace, use this method.
- Prepare a metal container with a tight-fitting lid and then cover the bottom of this container with soil taken from a sacred area such as a church or cemetery.
- Leave this container open at the location where you found the ghost. The purified land will attract this spirit.
- After you confirm with a ghost detector that the spirit has entered the container, gently close the container and sprinkle a little salt on top.
- Bury this container in the purified soil.
Step 2. Use wax
Candles can be used to catch nuisance spirits that cause trouble in the house.
- Prepare a large glass jar, open the lid and put the candle in it. At midnight, light the candle and place the jar in the middle of the haunted location.
- The ghost will be attracted by the energy emitted by the burning candle, but the energy from the candlelight will also confine the ghost in this jar.
- Once you can confirm that the ghost is in the jar, seal it tightly. The candle will die by itself.
- Keep the jar tightly closed for as long as you wish to confine the ghost. If this jar were to be opened or broken, this spirit would be released again and might come to avenge its captors!
Tips
- Ask someone else to accompany you! Your imagination may overwhelm you, so it's a good idea to have a friend with you.
- When you want to talk to a ghost, wave your hand as if you were greeting someone saying hi. Never speak harsh words to a ghost, because this ghost may be an evil spirit.
Warning
- Evil spirits can make you faint and injured. Beware if you realize that your spirit is strong.
- Your paranormal abilities can become stronger. This is when you are called a professional.
- If your paranormal abilities are getting higher, don't live in a haunted house or choose a place in your house where there are no ghosts.
