If you don't have curling irons, you can still achieve gorgeous curls with a few braiding methods. Curling hair with this method does not have a bad impact on the hair, unlike the effect caused by using curling irons. The braiding method will create waves of hair that can be left as is or beautified with hair accessories. The best time to do the braiding is at night, after a shower. It only takes a few minutes to braid your hair and you can already see the results the next day.
Step
Method 1 of 2: French Braids
Step 1. Shower as usual
Wash your hair with shampoo and apply conditioner to moisturize your hair. When you're done, comb your hair. Use a regular comb, not a hairbrush. Put the top hair aside and pin it at the top of your head.
Step 2. Start braiding your hair
The number and thickness of the braids will depend on the type of curl you want. The most important thing is to braid your hair tightly because loose braids only make hair wavy, not curly. Try to braid your hair tightly, otherwise you'll end up with frizzy hair and possibly an odd shape. Start braiding your hair as close to your scalp as possible. Once you have finished the bottom layer of hair, remove the top hair and do the same procedure.
Step 3. Braid your hair while it is damp
Moist hair will make the curling process more effective.
- Make two or three thick French braids for stunning thick round curls. You have another advantage to using two French braids because you can apply the style the day before, then leave it overnight, and get curls the next day. Two different hairstyles for two days in a row! French braids also produce curls that start at the roots.
- For large, loose curls, braid the strands about 2 inches (5 cm) apart. Pinch each braid around your head so they don't get mixed up.
- If you want curly curls or a "frizzy" style, make the braids smaller.
Step 4. Let the braid dry
The braiding process will take longer because you will have to make more braids. It's best to leave your hair in a braid overnight (or apply it as a hairstyle for one day and remove the braid the next day). The braids will prevent frizz, but if you're worried that your braids will fall apart while you sleep, use a shower cap or something to protect them.
When you wake up in the morning, before removing the braid, turn your head a few times or give your head a quick massage. This will help stimulate the hair follicles, making hair look "alive" and shiny. If you have time, rock your hair for a few minutes
Step 5. Remove all the braids
Do not use a brush to separate hair.
Step 6. Use your fingers to gently comb each curl
You can use a wide-toothed comb or simply use your fingers to comb through the hair. Style your hair a little bit and leave it as is, or use accessories to make it look great.
Step 7. Spray hairspray or hair gel to make the curls last longer
Using hair gel will prevent hair from becoming frizzy, while hairspray will make the curls last even when hair conditions become damp.
Step 8. Enjoy your new hairstyle
Method 2 of 2: Twisting
Step 1. Wash your hair as usual
Wait until the hair is slightly dry. Hair must be 60% dry to apply this method.
Step 2. Divide the hair into two sections
Leave one section on the left and one section on the right. If the parting is on the side, you can pick up more hair on the left to compensate.
Step 3. If you can make a French braid, this method should be easy
Instead of using 3 strands of hair, use only 2. Hold both strands of hair and start twisting them, each time you do one twist, add a section of hair to each section. So this technique is the same as a French braid, but you only use 2 strands of hair instead of 3.
Step 4. Continue this procedure until there is no more hair left to add
Step 5. If you only have 2 strands of hair left, continue twisting them all the way to the ends
When you're done, repeat the same procedure with the hair on the other side of your head.
Step 6. Tie the ends of the hair with a thin hair band
A tangle-free hair band is the best choice.
Step 7. Once the hair twist is dry, carefully remove it
Do not comb/brush hair at all. Just use your fingers to gently untwist the hair.
Step 8. Once you have completed the whole procedure, turn your head upside down and shake your hair for a while
This step helps loosen the curls. Use hairspray so that the curls last longer and your curls are ready to be flaunted.
Tips
- The tighter you braid your hair, the smaller and tighter the curls will be.
- When tying the braid, use a hair band that contains fabric fibers. Do not use rubber bands, as the hair can be pulled when you remove it and it can be painful.
- Try making one or more layers of braids for different curls.
- For curlier hair, make 7-8 braids. The more you braid, the more curly/wavy/frizzy your hair will be when you remove the braid.
- The number of braids will affect the volume of the hair. By making dozens of small braids, you'll have tight curls when the braids are removed, but if you only make two braids in each layer, you'll have soft waves.
- If it's your first time trying this method, get someone to braid your hair.
- Add gel when braiding hair. This method will make your work easier in the morning.
- Try to spray the braids with hairspray before untying them.
- Apply mousse to slightly damp hair before braiding it and let it dry for longer-lasting curls. Leave the hair in a braid overnight for optimal results.
- If you've never tried this method, do it on weekends or during the holidays.
Warning
- Do not use a brush to comb the curls. The brush will destroy the curls and give them a frizzy appearance. Also, brushes can damage your hair by causing split ends.
- Do not use hairspray or gel or too much because the hair will become very hard and stiff.
