This wikiHow teaches you how to close an eBay account. Account closure can only be done from the eBay website on a computer. In order to be deleted, the balance on the account must be empty and there must be no pending transactions.

Step 1. Visit https://www.ebay.com via a web browser
If you're already signed in to your account, the eBay home page will appear.
If not, click " Sign in ” at the top left of the page, then type in your email address and password.
Step 2. Click your name
The name is at the top left of the page. A drop-down menu will open afterwards.
Step 3. Select Account settings
This option appears in the bottom row of the drop-down menu. The “Account Settings” page will load.
Step 4. Select the Accounts tab
You'll see this tab in the middle of the options row, under the "My eBay" section.
Step 5. Select Close My Account
This option appears to the right of the "My Account" text.
You may find the option under the "Account preferences" heading. After that, you will be directed to a help page (“Help”) which displays more information regarding account closure
Step 6. Click Close Account (if you are directed to the “Help” page)
You need to swipe up on the screen to see the options. This page contains other ways that can be followed to deactivate an account instead of closing it, such as by unsubscribing to sales equipment and removing automatic payment methods.
Step 7. Click request to close your account (if you are still on the account page)
This option appears under the "Closing your eBay account" text. A new browser tab will be opened after that.
Step 8. Determine the reason for account deletion
Select the drop-down box Select a category ”, select a reason category, then click the specific reason provided in the drop-down box.
Step 9. Select Continue
It's at the bottom of the page.
Step 10. Confirm account closure
Select the drop-down box " Select one, then select " No, please close my account ”.
Step 11. Select Continue
This option is shown at the bottom of the page.
Step 12. Check the box " I read and understand the above information"
Place a check in the box next to the text by clicking on it. By checking the box, you indicate that you have read and agree to the terms of account deletion.
Step 13. Select Continue
Once clicked, eBay will delete the account. Keep in mind that accounts may not be permanently deleted for up to seven days.
Tips
- The reviews you leave for other users will remain stored and displayed on eBay after the account is closed.
- If your account is on hold, you can't delete it until the reason for the suspension has been resolved.
Warning
- If you chose an email address as your eBay account ID or username, change that username before closing the account. Otherwise, all ratings or reviews uploaded through your account will still be displayed with your email address.
- If there are still outstanding charges or fees on your account, you cannot delete the account until the transaction is completed.
