Packaged frosting, which can be purchased at a grocery store, is an inexpensive and easy option. However, the taste, consistency, or color may not be to your liking. Luckily, there are a few easy ways to make packaged frosting even tastier! Adding flavored syrup, powdered sugar, or food coloring are some examples of how to improve packaged frosting at home. With a few simple changes, the packaged frosting you buy will become a dessert star in no time.

Method 1 of 3: Improving the Taste
Step 1. Flavor the frosting by adding syrup
Pour the packaged frosting into a large bowl using a spatula or spoon. Add 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of flavored syrup, such as caramel, raspberry, hazelnut, cherry, butter pecan, or mango. Mix the syrup with the frosting using an electric mixer or by hand. Taste the taste, then add more syrup to taste.
Step 2. Add cream cheese for a richer taste
Pour the packaged frosting into a large bowl and add 240 ml of cream cheese. Use an electric mixer to mix all the ingredients or mix by hand. This addition will make the frosting softer and richer in flavor.

Step 1. Pour the white frosting into a bowl
Pour the plain white frosting into the bowl using a spatula or spoon. You may need to leave a bit of this unsalted frosting to lighten the frosting if needed.
Step 2. Add food coloring to the frosting
It is better to choose natural food coloring instead of artificial food coloring. You can use only one color or mix several colors. Mix a few drops of food coloring into the frosting by stirring with your hands or an electric mixer. Remember that 100 drops of food coloring equals 1 teaspoon (5 ml).
- Make pink frosting by adding 11 drops of red and 3 drops of yellow.
- Make lavender frosting by adding 5 drops of blue and 5 drops of red.
- Make min green frosting by adding 3 drops blue and 3 drops green.
Step 3. Adjust the color if necessary
If the color is too dark, add a little white frosting. If the color isn't too dark, add a drop or two of dye. Then, mix until smooth. Continue to adjust the color until you get the color you like.
