This wikiHow teaches you how to restore your Instagram account after it has been temporarily disabled, as well as apply for activation of a blocked account. If your account has been deleted, your only option is to create a new account.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Reactivate Account
Step 1. Make sure the account has been deactivated long enough
After deciding to deactivate an account, Instagram usually takes a few hours to complete the deactivation process. During this period, you cannot reactivate your account.
If your account has been deactivated for more than a day, you can log back in without any problems
Step 2. Be aware that you cannot deactivate a deleted account
If you previously decided to delete your Instagram account, you can't reactivate it after the account is deleted.
Step 3. Open the Instagram app
Tap the Instagram app icon which looks like a colorful camera.
Step 4. Enter your username, email address, or phone number
Type the information into the text field above. You can also use any login information as long as it is linked to the account you want to reactivate.
You may need to touch a button or link” Login ” to view the login page, depending on the page that Instagram is loading.
Step 5. Type in the account password
Enter the password in the "Password" text field.
If you don't remember your account password, you will need to reset it
Step 6. Touch Log in
It's at the bottom of the screen. As long as the information entered is correct, you will be logged into Instagram and be able to reactivate your account.
Step 7. Follow the instructions shown on the screen
You may need to accept the updated terms of use or verify your phone number before you can access your account, depending on how long the account has been deactivated.
The account will be reactivated when you log in so you don't have to perform the re-activation steps after entering your login information
Method 2 of 3: Submitting a Suspended Account Activation Application
Step 1. Make sure your account is indeed suspended
Open the Instagram app and try to log in using the correct login information. If you see the message " Your account has been disabled " (or something similar) after touching the button " Log in ”, Instagram has suspended your account for breach of terms of use.
Step 2. Go to the Instagram application site
Visit https://help.instagram.com/contact/606967319425038 via a computer web browser.
Step 3. Enter a name
In the "Full name" field at the top of the page, enter your first and last name, according to the name displayed on your Instagram account.
Step 4. Add username
Type your Instagram username into the "Your Instagram Username" field.
Step 5. Enter your email address and phone number
Type this information into the "Your email address" and "Your phone number" fields.
Step 6. Add the required details
In the last text field on the page, type a brief explanation of why your account should not be deleted/suspended.
Make sure you use a friendly tone of voice, and refrain from blaming Instagram or using harsh/negative language
Step 7. Click Send
It's a blue button at the bottom of the page. After that, the application or appeal will be sent to Instagram. If Instagram decides to reactivate your account, you can log in after getting a notification.
You can repeat the application process several times a day until Instagram makes a decision
Method 3 of 3: Troubleshooting Login Issues
Step 1. Try using a different login information
If you can't sign in with your username, try using an email address or phone number.
Passwords need to be entered correctly, regardless of the login information you choose
Step 2. Reset account password
If you can't remember the correct password for your account, you can reset it on your phone or computer.
Step 3. Turn off the phone's WiFi when logging in
If the problem is with the Instagram app (not the login information), use a mobile network/data instead of a WiFi network to resolve the login issue.
Step 4. Use a different platform
Your phone or computer may store information (in cached form) that prevents you from logging into your account. In this case, try logging into the account using a different phone, computer or browser to resolve the login issue.
Step 5. Delete and reinstall the Instagram app
Sometimes, reinstalling the app can solve the logon problem caused by the app.
If the Instagram app is out of date, you can get the latest version of the app through the uninstall and reinstallation process
Step 6. Think about whether you have ever violated Instagram's terms of use
If you receive a message saying that your account is unavailable, your account may be deleted by Instagram for violation of the terms of use.
- Some fairly common offenses include posting of nude photos, bullying of other users, promotion of dangerous products, and fraud.
- Violations of the terms of use usually result in your account being suspended or deleted without warning.
Tips
- Keep a backup of your Instagram photos to ensure your existing photo collection is safe if your account is deleted.
- Instagram sometimes displays errors or bugs that prevent you from logging in to your account, even when the correct login information is entered. Therefore, you don't need to panic if your account can't be accessed. Wait a day, then try logging into your account again.
