This wikiHow teaches you how to make a projectile dispenser in Minecraft from scratch. The dispenser can be used to fire projectiles at mobs (monsters in Minecraft) automatically.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Creating a Dispenser in Survival Mode (Computer Edition)
Step 1. Gather the materials needed to make a dispenser
If you don't have the materials you need at all, gather the following materials first:
- One redstone ore - Mine a redstone block. You can find redstone at a depth of 16 blocks underground. If you want to mine redstone, you'll need an iron pickaxe (or better).
- Seven cobblestone blocks (cobblestone) - Mine 7 gray stones. Use a pickaxe to do this, although you can also use a wooden pickaxe.
- Three strands of rope - Kill three spiders. This is best done during the day because spiders are more aggressive at night.
- One block of wood - Cut any tree in this game to get a block of wood. If you don't have a craft table yet, cut another block of wood.
- To make a dispenser, you will also need craft table.
Step 2. Make a wooden plank
You can do this by pressing E to open your inventory, then clicking and dragging a block of wood anywhere in the "Crafting" section. This will generate four boards, which can be clicked on and dragged into the inventory.
Step 3. Open the crafting table
To open it, right-click the table when you are in front of it.
If you don't already have one, make a crafting table by pressing the E button and using 4 wooden planks
Step 4. Make a bunch of sticks
You can do this by placing a single board in the lower center square of the crafting table interface. Next, place another wooden plank on top of it (in the center square). This will produce a bundle of sticks (4 sticks), which you can drag into your inventory.
Step 5. Draw a bow
To make a bow, you need three sticks and three strings. You'll need to arrange them in a crafting grid that has three by three dimensions using the following method:
- Stick - Place one stick in the bottom row (middle column), one stick in the top row (middle column), and another stick in the middle row (left column).
- Rope - Place one string in each row in the column on the right.
- Once the bow is complete, click the bow icon to the right of the crafting box to place it in your inventory.
Step 6. Place the bow in the center of the crafting box
You can do this by clicking and dragging the bow from the inventory in the center box. This is the first step to making a dispenser.
Step 7. Add the cobblestones
Place one cobblestone block in each row in the right and left columns, and one block in the top center square.
Step 8. Place the redstone in the bottom center square
Redstone is the last ingredient. A dispenser icon will appear, which is a gray box with a hole in it. This icon appears to the right of the crafting box.
Step 9. Click the dispenser icon
Once you do, the dispenser will be placed in your inventory. Now you are ready to place it in the desired location.
Part 2 of 3: Creating a Dispenser in Survival Mode (Console Edition)

- Seven cobblestone blocks - Mine seven gray stones. Use a pickaxe to do this, although you can use a wooden pickaxe.
- Three strands of rope - Kill three spiders. This is best done during the day because spiders are more aggressive at night.

The dispenser you create will be placed directly into your inventory.
Part 3 of 3: Placing the Dispenser

This can be done by clicking on the dispenser in the quick-access bar. The dispenser will stick to your hand.
- If your dispenser has not been placed on the quick access bar, press the button E (or Y for Xbox / triangle for PlayStation) and move the dispenser from inventory to the quick access bar.
- On a PlayStation or Xbox, press the right shoulder button above the right trigger to navigate through the quick access menus until you select a dispenser.
Step 2. Face yourself to the block you want to use to place the dispenser
The cursor in the center of the screen will immediately be in the center of the block.
Step 3. Right-click a spot on the ground
The dispenser will be placed there, and the barrel will be facing you.
On a PlayStation or Xbox, you must press the left directional button instead of right-clicking
Tips
- When in Creative mode, you can find the dispenser in the redstone tab (on PC/Mac) or redstone and tools tab (on console).
- The dispenser can shoot mobs automatically; this means you don't need to use a bow to save energy.
