Tired of listening to the radio when traveling by car? With the right gear, you can listen to all the music in your iPad library while driving. If you have car audio with the Bluetooth feature, you don't even need any cables to connect iPad to audio. If you're using an older model car, there are several ways to listen to music from your iPad through the car's speakers.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Using Bluetooth
Step 1. Make sure your car audio matches the iPad
You need car audio that supports both Bluetooth audio and device. Today, many new types of car audio are equipped with the Bluetooth feature. However, if you have an old car, you may need to install a new car audio first or follow the other methods described in this article.
- Your car audio must support the A2DP Bluetooth profile in order to play back music from iPad.
- If your car audio has an auxiliary jack but doesn't have a Bluetooth feature, you can use a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver dongle and plug it into the jack.
Step 2. Open settings on iPad
Step 3. Touch the "Bluetooth" option, then slide the Bluetooth toggle to enable it
Step 4. Open the "Setup" menu on the car audio
This setup process will differ depending on your car audio brand and car manufacturer.
Step 5. Select “Phone”
Even if you are going to connect iPad to audio, still select “Phone”.
Step 6. Select "Pair"
After that, the car audio will start searching for the iPad's Bluetooth signal.
Step 7. Select the name of the car (or car) audio on the Bluetooth menu of the iPad
Typically, the car audio name (or your car's name) will appear in the list of available devices on iPad.
Step 8. Enter the PIN code shown on the audio screen
The code that needs to be entered is usually a series of numbers such as 0000.
Step 9. Wait for the device to connect
This process takes a few moments. Once connected, you can see a message on the audio screen that a Bluetooth device (in this case, an iPad) is connected to the car audio.
Step 10. Start playing music
Once iPad is connected to the car audio, you can start playing music through the car audio. Switch the car audio to AUX or Bluetooth input mode.
Method 2 of 4: Using a 3.5 mm. Audio Cable
Step 1. Connect iPad to car audio
Connect one cable to the iPad's audio jack, and the other end to the car audio auxiliary port.
Step 2. Select the input source on the car audio
Press the “Source” or “Mode” button on the audio, and select “AUX” as the sound source.
Step 3. Launch iTunes
Touch the iTunes icon on iPad, and select any music to play. Now, you can listen to music playing from your iPad via car audio.
Method 3 of 4: Using an FM Transmitter
Step 1. Connect the transmitter and iPad first
Use a 3.5 mm cable to connect the transmitter to the iPad audio jack or port.
If you live in an urban area, an FM transmitter may be difficult to use due to the large number of radio waves in the area
Step 2. Insert the transmitter power supply device into the car cigarette adapter line or hole
Step 3. Determine the radio frequency on the FM transmitter
Step 4. Switch the car audio to FM radio mode
Set the radio frequency to the same frequency as the transmitter.
Step 5. Launch iTunes on iPad
Play any music to hear it through car audio.
Method 4 of 4: Using the Cassette Adapter
Step 1. Insert the cassette into the audio tape deck (tape)
The deck is usually located on the main car audio unit.
Step 2. Connect the 3.5 mm audio cable to the iPad audio jack
Step 3. Select the input source of the car audio
On the main unit, press the “Source” or “Mode” button, and select “Tape”.
Step 4. Start playing the cassette
You need to press the “Play” button to play the cassette before the sound/music comes from the loudspeaker.
Step 5. Launch iTunes
Choose any music track to play, and enjoy the music in your car.
