This wikiHow teaches you how to tell if one of your Snapchat friends is using the app. While there's no surefire way to tell if someone is online, you can determine or guess whether he or she is currently opening a chat segment and viewing snaps at this point.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Sending a Chat
Step 1. Open Snapchat
Tap the Snapchat app icon, which looks like a white ghost on a yellow background. The Snapchat camera window will open if you are already logged in to your account.
If not, touch " LOG IN β, enter the username (or email address/phone number) and password for the account, then touch β LOG IN β.
Step 2. Scroll to the βFriendsβ page
Drag the camera window to the right to access the page. You will see a list of friends with whom you last shared photos/videos.
Step 3. Find the name of the friend in question
Scroll down until you find the name of the user with whom you recently shared content/message.
Step 4. Open the chat page with the friend
Swipe your friend's name from left to right to open a chat thread.
Step 5. Send him a message
Type in a message and touch the β Send β.
Step 6. Wait for your friend's Bitmoji character to appear
The character appears in the lower-left side of the chat window, just above the text field. If you see it, your friend is online and reading your message.
- If he's not using a Bitmoji character, you can see a smiley face icon. This icon will turn to a blue dot after a few seconds.
- If the Bitmoji character (or blue dot) doesn't appear, your friend is either out of network or not responding to your message.
Method 2 of 2: Checking Sent Snaps
Step 4. Pay attention to the "Opened" timestamp for the last upload you submitted
You'll see a triangular outline and an " Opened " status under a friend's name, as well as a timestamp that shows when he or she opened a post from you (in seconds, minutes, or hours).
- If he opened a post from you in the last few minutes, there's a good chance he's still online.
- If you see a solid triangle icon with the status " Delivered " next to it, it hasn't opened your shipment yet.
