This article teaches you how to add column headers to a Google Sheet spreadsheet on a computer.
Step
Step 1. Go to https://sheets.google.com using a browser
If you're not already signed in to your Google account, sign in now.
Step 2. Click the sheet you want to edit
To create a new sheet, click the “Blank” or “Blank document” option in the top-left corner of the list.
Step 3. Insert a new blank line into the sheet
If you are creating a new sheet or already have a header row, skip this step. If you haven't already, follow these steps to add a new row at the top of the sheet:
- Click the number next to the top row of the sheet. This process will block the row.
- Click menu Insert or Insert
- Click Row above or Line above. A blank line will appear at the top of the sheet.
Step 4. Type the header into the header row
If you have already given column/header names, skip this step. If not, type the title of each column into the blank box at the top of the data.
Step 5. Click the number next to the header row
This process will block the header row.
Step 6. Click the View menu or See.
Step 7. Click Freeze or Freeze.
Step 8. Click 1 row or 1 line.
The header row is now frozen. If you scroll down the spreadsheet, these rows will remain visible.
