Google Chrome is a popular internet browser. This browser provides a Find function, which you can use to search for a specific word or phrase within a web page. You can enable this option with a few simple steps.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Using the Mouse
Step 1. Visit the webpage containing the text you want to search by entering its URL into Chrome's address bar
After entering the URL, press Enter and wait for the page to finish loading.
Step 2. Click the icon with three horizontal lines in the top right corner of the browser
If you're on a PC, it's usually under the X button, which closes the browser. After you hover over the icon, you will see the description Customize and control Google Chrome.
Step 3. Find and click the Find option
After clicking on the option, the menu will disappear, and a small text box will appear below the address bar. Within that text box, you'll find a search bar, up and down arrows, and an "X."
Step 4. Enter the word or phrase you want to search on the active page
If you haven't used the Find feature before, the text box that appears on the screen will be empty. Or, if you've used the feature before, you may need to remove the word or phrase in the text box.
When you're done typing, you can press Enter. However, the search function will actually work even if you don't press Enter. After entering a keyword, Chrome will start looking for that word on the page
Step 5. Know how many words you are looking for on the page
After you enter a keyword, Chrome will mark each matched word in the active web page. The number of matching words will appear on the right side of the search bar, for example 1 of 20.
- You can click the up and down arrows to scroll through each search result.
- When you click the arrow, the currently displayed search result is highlighted in orange instead of yellow.
Step 6. When you are done using the Find function, close the window by clicking the "X" or pressing Esc
The mark in the search results will disappear once the Find function is closed.
