You can find people and friends on Skype by their email address, username, full name, and other information they enter into their Skype profile. To search for someone on Skype, you can use the contact menu or the search field.

Method 1 of 2: Via Contact Menu
Step 1. Log in to your Skype account and click “Contacts” on the menu bar at the top of the screen
Step 2. Click “Add Contact”, then select “Search Skype Directory”
Step 3. Type the person's full name, Skype username, or email address into the search field
A list of users who match the search criteria will automatically be displayed in the segment below the search field.
Step 4. Click the username you want to add to the contact list
Additional details for the user in question are displayed on the screen, including their photo, city, country (or state), and phone number.
Step 5. Click “Add to Contacts”
Step 6. Type a short message in the dialog field to introduce yourself, then click “Send”
Once the user has accepted the friend request, a green tick will appear next to their name on your Skype contact list.
Method 2 of 2: Using the Search Field
Step 1. Sign in to your Skype account and click the search field at the top of the Skype window/session
Step 2. Type the person's full name, Skype username, or email address into the search field
Using search criteria like this is usually the most effective way to find someone on Skype.
You can also search for Skype users by location, language, gender, and age, and a combination of two or more of these search parameters
Step 3. Click “Search Skype”
Skype will search for contacts that match the criteria you entered.
Step 4. Find the friend's name in the list of search results, then click "Add to Contacts"
Click “View Profile” if you are not sure if the profile found is your friend's profile. Additional information about the user, including their photo, city, country, and phone number will be displayed
Step 5. Type a short note to introduce yourself, then click “Send”
Once he accepts the friend request, a green tick will appear next to his name on your Skype contact list.
