This wikiHow teaches you how to scan a QR code so you can add the contact as a friend on Facebook. This article also shows you how to view private QR codes so you can share them with other contacts on Android devices.

Method 1 of 2: Scanning the QR Code
Step 1. Run the Facebook app on the device
The Facebook app is indicated by a white “f” icon inside a blue square. This icon can be found in the application menu.
Step 2. Select the search icon
This icon looks like a magnifying glass and appears in the upper-right corner of the screen. The search bar will load at the top of the screen after that.
Step 3. Type QR Code into the search bar and select the search icon
Use the on-screen keyboard to type "QR Code" into the search field, then tap the magnifying glass icon in the lower right corner of the keyboard to search for the QR Code app on Facebook.
Step 4. Select QR Code (“QR Code”) from the search results
This option is at the top of the search results line. This app has a blue icon and a white QR code image. Tap the entry in the search results to launch the Facebook QR Code app.
Search results that have a thumb icon next to them indicate the Facebook QR Code page. Don't think of it as an option for the Facebook QR Code app
Step 5. Scan the code with the device camera
Adjust the position of the code you want to scan with the camera frame on the screen. Automatically, the application will recognize the code. After that, you will be redirected to the page related to the code.
- If the lighting conditions in the room are too dark, select the flash icon at the top right of the screen. The flash on the device camera will be activated so that the code can be scanned more clearly and easily.
- Alternatively, select the option “ Import from Gallery ” (“Import from Gallery”) below the camera frame, then select the QR code snippet from the device gallery.
Step 6. Touch the icon that looks like a human and the plus sign (“+”) next to its head
You can see this button next to the blue “Message” button. A friend request will be sent to the user in question. After receiving a request from you, he will be added as a friend to your profile.
Method 2 of 2: Saving Private Facebook QR Code
Step 1. Run the Facebook app on the device
The Facebook app is indicated by a white “f” icon inside a blue rectangle. This icon can be found in the application menu.
Step 2. Select the search icon
This icon looks like a magnifying glass and appears in the upper-right corner of the screen. The search bar will load at the top of the screen after that.
Step 3. Type QR Code into the search bar and select the search icon
Use the on-screen keyboard to type "QR Code" into the search field, then tap the magnifying glass icon in the lower right corner of the keyboard to search for the QR Code app on Facebook.
Step 4. Select QR Code (“QR Code”) from the search results
This option is at the top of the search results line. This app has a blue icon and a white QR code image. Tap the entry in the search results to launch the Facebook QR Code app.
Step 5. Select the My Code tab at the top of the screen
This option is displayed next to the “ Scanner ” (“Scanner”), at the top of the screen. After that, your personal QR code will load on a new page.

Step 6. Select Save to Phone ("Save to Phone")
You can see this blue button under the QR code. Your personal QR code will be sampled and saved to your device's photo gallery.
You can send the snippet to others via message or email
Step 7. Select Share (“Share”)
You can see this blue button at the bottom of the screen. This option allows you to share your private QR code with others via selected apps.
Step 8. Decide which app you want to use to share the code
You can upload the QR code to social media, send it as a message via a messaging app, or insert it into an email.
