Siri is one of the coolest features found on new iOS devices. Siri is a great listener, intelligent, informative-and has a great sense of humor! This article will introduce you to Siri, and show you how to access Siri's various features and functions.

Part 1 of 2: Accessing Siri
Step 1. Hold down the Home button
You'll hear two low-pitched beeps, and you'll see "What can I help you with?" on the screen, above the silver microphone icon.
- If you're using an iPhone 4S or later, if your screen is on, you can hold the phone to your ear to activate Siri.
- Using a Bluetooth headset, press and hold the call button to activate Siri.
- If using a remote, headphones, and microphone, press and hold the center button on the remote to talk to Siri.
- Cars using Eyes Free have a button to activate Siri on the steering wheel. Press that button to activate Siri, and find directions to the gas station, then to the movies, all without taking your hands off the steering wheel.
Step 2. Start talking
You'll see a microphone icon light up-it tells you that you're connected to Siri. When you're done speaking, Siri will emit two high-pitched beeps and display what you said, in text format. Then he will give a response based on your question or command.
- For example, if you ask "What time is it", Siri will respond by stating the current time. You can even ask "What time is it in Brazil," and Siri will tell you the answer.
- If you say "Play jazz", Siri will access iTunes, and play your jazz playlist.
Part 2 of 2: Using Siri
Step 1. Use Siri frequently
Siri adapts to your voice, accent, and speaking style, so the more you use it, the more accurate the answer will be.
Step 2. Speak to your application
Siri can interact with almost all of Apple's built-in apps, plus Twitter, Wikipedia, Facebook, and more.
- For example, you can ask Siri a question like "How do I get to Seattle," and Siri will access Maps, find routes, and direct you.
- You can use it to find nearby restaurants, make appointments, even call your mom-all with just a question.
Step 3. Use Location Services
If this feature is enabled, you can use Siri to remind you of events or reminders, based on your location.
For example, if you need to stop at the grocery store after work, activate Siri and say "Remind me to stop at the market after work." (Remind me to stop at the market after work). When you go through the exit, Siri will beep in a friendly manner to alert you
Step 4. Tell Siri to write what you dictate
On any Siri-enabled iOS device, you can say what you want to write, and it will be converted to text. Just hit the microphone button on your keyboard, and start talking. When you're done, press "Done," and Siri will write your words into text.
Tips
- Speak naturally. Siri programming is built in such a way that you can talk like you would talk to someone else, and can interpret meaning even if it's not explicitly stated.
- Ask Siri about anything. He understands and processes all kinds of questions, and often has surprising answers. For example, asking Siri "Who's your daddy? (Who's your daddy?)" will result in answers ranging from "Steve Jobs is my daddy" to "This must be an important question, because I'm asked that's all the time." (This must be an important question, because I get asked about it all the time.)
