Without any technical knowledge, you can zoom in or out on the Windows workbar! Maybe you want to zoom in or out, display it permanently (or vice versa), and even place it at the top or side of the screen. This article will show you all the ways.
Step
Step 1. Unlock the workbar
In order to be resized, make sure the bar is unlocked. To find out if the bar is locked or not, right-click an empty column on the bar and make sure there is no check next to the “Lock the taskbar” option. If there is a check, click the “Lock the taskbar” option once to unlock it.
Step 2. Place the cursor on the line at the top of the bar
The cursor will change to a double-sided arrow after that.
Step 3. Click and drag the corner of the bar towards the top
After that, the size of the blade will be enlarged. Alternatively, drag the corner of the bar downwards to reduce its size.
Step 4. Change the position of the workbar
You can change the position of the bar to the right, left, or top of the screen. Just click and drag the bar to the top, left, or right side of the screen.
This step is useful when the workbar is blocking objects at the bottom of the screen. You can temporarily move the bar position
Step 5. Turn off the auto-hide feature (“Auto-hide”)
The computer sometimes hides the bar from the screen automatically. If this is bothersome, follow these steps to disable the auto-hide feature:
- Right-click an empty space on the bar.
- Click " Taskbar settings " (or " Properties ” on Windows 7 & 8) at the bottom of the pop-up menu.
- Click the toggle next to the “Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode” option.
- Click the switch next to " Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode ".
Step 6. Zoom out the icon on the bar
If you want to minimize the icon on the bar, follow these steps:
- Right-click an empty space on the bar.
- Click " Taskbar settings " (or " Properties ” on Windows 7 & 8) at the bottom of the pop-up menu.
- Click the toggle next to the "Use small taskbar buttons" option.
Step 7. Click
in the lower right corner (for Windows 8 & 10 only).
The icon looks like an upward pointing parenthesis. Once clicked, all hidden mini icons will be shown in a pop-up box. You can customize what icons you want to appear on the toolbar or hidden icon box by clicking and dragging the icon from the bar to the hidden box, or vice versa. This way, you can move some of the icons around and create additional space on the toolbar.
Step 8. Lock the toolbar again
At this point, you can re-lock the bar if you want. To lock it, right-click an empty space on the bar and click “ Lock the taskbar ”.
