Highlighters can make your skin tone more beautiful and enhance bone structure. The use of highlighter only takes a few minutes because this product is only applied to a small area of the face. However, a few pats of highlighter can brighten up your entire face. Even if you're new to makeup, you should be able to learn how to apply highlighter easily.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Beautify Cheeks, Nose and Forehead
Step 1. Start by applying foundation and concealer
Applying foundation and concealer will help expand the canvas for highlighter and other makeup. Concealer will help hide minor blemishes on your face and brighten your skin. Apply foundation before applying highlighter and apply concealer if you wish.
- Use a sponge or makeup brush to blend the foundation into your face well.
- If you have dark circles or minor blemishes on your face, use a little more concealer to cover those areas. That way, you can more easily highlight the areas that the highlighter has given you.
- You can also use concealer to define the areas you want to highlight. Try giving a few dots to the bridge of the nose, cheekbones, in the middle of the forehead, under the eyes, and at the crease of the chin. Make sure you blend the concealer well.
Step 2. Apply highlighter to the top of your cheekbones
Take a blush or kabuki brush and use it to apply a small amount of highlighter from the temples to the top of the cheekbones in a curved motion like the letter "C". You can apply a single layer of highlighter for a subtle effect, or multiple layers of highlighter for a more intense highlight.
Step 3. Tap a little highlighter on the tip of your nose
Take a small amount of highlighter with your fingertips and pat it against the tip of your nose. Move your finger back and forth to blend the highlighter. Don't forget, you only need a little highlighter.
Step 4. Apply a small amount of highlighter in the center of the forehead
To highlight the center of your forehead, sweep a small amount of highlighter from the center of your forehead towards the bridge of your nose. Start at the center of the hairline on the forehead and work your way down.
If you want a dramatic highlight effect, you can dab highlighter all the way to the bridge of your nose. This step is optional
Method 2 of 2: Beautify Eyes, Lips and Chin
Step 1. Apply highlighter to the inner corner of your eye
Use an eyeshadow highlighting brush and use the tip to pick up a little highlighter. Then, press the brush into the corner of your inner eyelid.
You can apply multiple layers of highlighter for a dramatic effect or just do light strokes for subtle highlights
Step 2. Apply highlighter to the brow bone
This area is just below the eyebrows and will catch a lot of light making it perfect for highlighting. Apply highlighter on the brow bone, which is just below the brow.
- Try to apply most of the highlighter on the outer edge of the brow bone. You don't need to run highlighter all over the brow bone.
- You can also continue to rub the highlighter down to the crease of the eyelid to add brightness to the eyes.
Step 3. Apply the highlighter just above the upper lip
The area just above the center of your upper lip is called the cupid's bow and highlighting this part will highlight your lips. Take a small amount of highlighter with your fingertips and press these areas.
Don't apply highlighter to your lips. Just rub a little in the area just above the lips
Step 4. Apply highlighter in the center of the chin
Giving a highlighter in the middle of the chin will help accentuate your lips. Try rubbing a little highlighter into the center of your chin.
- Be careful not to apply too much highlighter to this area. You just need to give it a light stroke.
- If you highlighter on the forehead, try to keep the highlighter on the chin straight with the highlighter on the forehead.
