Step
Method 1 of 3: Basic Chocolate Brownies
Step 1. Get ready
Set the rack in the oven to the middle position, and preheat it to 180°C.
Butter the pan, making sure to grease all the corners
Step 2. Mix dry ingredients
In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt
Step 3. Prepare the chocolate
In a medium-sized saucepan or double boiler, slowly melt the chocolate chunks and butter until fully combined. Stir occasionally. When finished, remove from the stove.
Step 4. Add sugar
Add a few tablespoons of sugar to the chocolate mixture and stir until combined. Then mix the dry ingredients.
Step 5. Add the beaten eggs to the mixture
Stir well, and then add the vanilla. Stir until the mixture is completely combined, then pour into the previously greased baking sheet.
Step 6. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes
Check the brownies for doneness by sticking a toothpick into the center. If there is still dough on the toothpick, it means the brownies are not cooked. If no dough sticks, remove the brownies from the oven. Ideally, to find out the right degree of doneness for a brownie, there should be a small amount of crumbs on the toothpick. The outside of the brownies will be crispy with the inside still a little sticky.
Step 7. Cool on a wire rack for an hour or two
Sprinkle powdered sugar and toasted nuts on top of the brownies if desired.
Step 8. Enjoy
Method 2 of 3: Chewy Chocolate Brownies
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 150°C
Grease a baking sheet with butter that has room temperature. Sprinkle a little flour on the greased baking sheet until it is completely covered.
Take a pan that is large enough. Brownies are traditionally flat, meaning you should choose a larger pan over a smaller one. Smaller pans will take more time in the oven
Step 2. Melt the butter over low heat
Alternatively, melt the butter in the microwave until it melts completely. Let it cool.
Step 3. Add remaining wet ingredients and sugar
Add sugar, mix completely. Add vanilla extract and eggs, beat until combined.
Step 4. In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients
Mix cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
Stirring the dry ingredients thoroughly before adding them to the wet ingredients will save you time when you mix the dough. The less time it takes to mix the dough, the softer and smoother your brownies will be
Step 5. Mix all dry ingredients into wet ingredients
Stir until combined.
Step 6. Pour the brownie mixture into a baking sheet that has been greased and dusted with flour
Pour the batter evenly.
Step 7. Bake in the oven at 150°C for 30 minutes
Use a toothpick test to check for doneness. Allow the brownies to cool for at least 10 minutes.
Step 8. When the brownies have cooled, sprinkle them with powdered sugar
Sprinkle to form an even layer on top of the brownies.
Step 9. Cut the brownies and enjoy
Method 3 of 3: Caramel Brownies
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 177°C
Grease a baking sheet with butter that has room temperature. Sprinkle a little flour on the greased baking sheet until completely covered.
Step 2. Melt the butter over low heat
Alternatively, melt the butter in the microwave until it melts completely. Let it cool.
Step 3. Combine melted butter and milk that has been evaporated after the butter has cooled
These will be your wet ingredients.
Step 4. Mix the packaged cake dough into the liquid/wet ingredients
Stir until almost combined.
Step 5. Pour 2/3 of the brownie mixture into a baking sheet that has been greased and dusted with flour
Sprinkle the walnut pieces over the dough.
Step 6. Bake at 177°C for 8 to 10 minutes
Step 7. While baking, over medium heat, melt the caramel and remaining evaporated milk into a sauce
Step 8. Remove the brownies from the oven after 8 to 10 minutes
Pour all the caramel sauce over the brownies and coat again with the remaining brownie batter. Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the brownie batter.
Step 9. Continue baking for 15 to 18 minutes
Let the brownies cool. Cut and enjoy!
Tips
- Try adding white chocolate or chocolate chips to the batter.
- Add the nuts on top of the brownies, either before baking or after baking, but don't mix them into the batter: the nuts will evaporate and become soggy.
Warning
- Make sure you know your actual oven temperature-too hot or too cold, and your brownies (and other baked goods) won't bake properly.
- Don't bake too long. If you bake less than the allotted time, the brownies will become too tough and sticky. Meanwhile, if you bake too long, the brownies will become dry and like a cake.
