Step
Method 1 of 3: Making Orange Juice by Hand
Step 1. Soften the oranges
Squeeze the orange firmly or roll it on the table, then press the orange with your palms to soften it.
Step 2. Slice the oranges
Cut the orange in half and remove the seeds. For seedless oranges, choose navel oranges.
Step 3. Squeeze the oranges
Grasp one of the orange slices tightly and squeeze it by hand using a regular orange juicer to squeeze the orange.
Step 4. Add the orange zest that sticks to the peel
Scoop out any remaining orange with a spoon, then add the pulp to the juice. If you prefer the juice without the pulp, strain the juice before drinking.
Step 5. Drink the juice
Enjoy a glass of refreshing cool orange juice without the pasteurization process. Fresh orange juice as is without any additives!
Method 2 of 3: Making Orange Juice with an Electric Squeezer
Step 1. Prepare the oranges
Peel and cut the oranges into quarters. If the orange is small like a mandarin orange, you can just cut it in half.
Step 2. Process the oranges by feeding them through the squeezer's feed tube
- Don't forget to prepare a container to hold this delicious juice!
- Note that some squeezers have the ability to adjust the amount of orange pulp squeezed in the juice. Look for information on how to choose a good squeezer or juicer.
Method 3 of 3: Making Orange Juice in a Blender or Food Processor
Step 1. Prepare the oranges to be blended
Peel and cut the oranges into pieces about 3 cm long. Don't forget to remove all the seeds if you have them.
Step 2. Run the blender cycle several times to crush the oranges
Continue this process until the oranges are soft like mush.
Step 3. Taste the juice
If it's too dry, add water. If it's not sweet enough, add more sugar.
Step 4. Run the blender again until the juice becomes more liquid
Step 5. Let stand for a few minutes to settle, then serve
Tips
- If you want to enjoy orange juice with a different taste than usual, try using Moro oranges, also known as "blood oranges". The color and the 'strong' taste goes well with the spicy omelette.
- Try a variety of oranges, so you know what type of orange you prefer to juice. Valencia oranges have seeds but contain a lot of juice, navel oranges are easy to find, large, and seedless, oranges are sweet in taste, and have a "cranberry flavor," according to Sunkist.
