You can change the main email (email) on your Microsoft account from the Profile page (profile) which can be accessed via a web browser. While you can add other emails using Windows, you can only change your primary email from the Microsoft Account page.
Step
Step 1. Open https://account.microsoft.com/profile/ in a web browser
If prompted, enter your email and password (password), then click Sign in.

The button is below the "Account" column.
Microsoft refers to an alternative email or phone number as an 'alias'. If you see the term, that's what it means
Step 4. Select the Microsoft alias that is “New” or “Existing” (already)
Step 5. Enter the email address
By creating a new email, you will be asked to enter an email name and select an email service from the menu. Using an existing email, you will be asked to enter your full address into the text field.
Step 6. Click Add Alias
You will be taken back to the Profile page and the new alias will be listed among the other emails.
Step 7. Click Make Primary
This button is next to all aliases registered to the account (except for the current primary email alias). The address you select now will be the address that appears on your avatar when you log into your account.
Tips
- You can change the primary alias up to twice a week.
- You can add up to 10 aliases per year.
