Open area All Apps on the “Start” menu in Windows, and the Applications folder in macOS.

Step 2. Open the file you want to work with

To do so, click menu File, choose Open, then double click the file.

To create a new file, press Ctrl+N, file name, then click OK.

Step 3. Click the “New Layer” icon

It's in the lower-right corner of the "Layers" panel. This icon is shaped like a square sheet of paper with inverted corners. Click the icon to create a new layer.

Step 5. Click the layer containing the image in the “Layers” panel

Step 6. Click “Select Tool”

This is the first button on the toolbar on the left side of the screen. The icon is like a cursor with a crosshairs.

Step 7. Drag the image to another tab

Click and drag the selected image, then drag it to another tab at the top of Photoshop. When you lift your finger off the mouse, the image will be imported as a new layer.
