This wikiHow teaches you how to add contacts to an email account by opening a VCF file. A VCF file (also known as a “vCard”) stores contact information that can be read and imported into email services such as Gmail, iCloud, and Yahoo, as well as the desktop email management program Outlook. Note that you need a computer to use the VCF file.

Method 1 of 4: Using Gmail
Step 1. Go to the Google Contacts page
Visit https://contacts.google.com/ via your computer's web browser. After that, a list of Gmail contacts will be displayed if you are already signed in to your Google account.
- If not, enter your Gmail account email address and password when prompted before moving on to the next step.
- If the Google Contacts page shown doesn't match, click the profile icon in the top-right corner of the page, then select the appropriate account from the drop-down menu. If the desired account is not displayed, click “ Add account ”, then enter your email address and password to log in.
Step 2. Click More
It's on the left side of the “Contacts” page. Several options will be displayed under the heading “ More ”.
Step 3. Click Import
This option is at the bottom of the “ More ”, on the left side of the “Contacts” page. After that, a pop-up window will be displayed.
Step 4. Click the CSV or vCard file
This option is at the bottom of the list of options.
Step 5. Click SELECT FILE
It's at the bottom of the pop-up window.
Step 6. Select the VCF file
Click the VCF file that you want to open in Gmail.
Step 7. Click Open
It's in the lower-right side of the window. Once clicked, the file will be uploaded.
Step 8. Click IMPORT
This option is displayed in a pop-up window. The contacts from the VCF file will then be immediately added to the Gmail account.
Method 2 of 4: Using iCloud
Step 1. Open iCloud
Visit https://www.icloud.com/ through your computer's web browser. The iCloud dashboard page will appear if you're already signed in to your account.
If not, enter the email address and password when prompted
Step 2. Click Contacts
It's in the top row of options on the dashboard page. After that, a list of contacts will be displayed.
Step 3. Click the settings gear icon or "Settings"
It's in the lower-left corner of the window. A pop-up menu will appear after that.
Step 4. Click Import vCard…
This option is displayed in the pop-up menu. Once clicked, a File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) window will open.
Step 5. Select the VCF file
Click the VCF file that you want to open in iCloud.
Step 6. Click Open
It's in the lower-right corner of the window. After that, the contacts from the file will be added to the iCloud contact list.
Method 3 of 4: Using Yahoo
Step 1. Open Yahoo
Visit https://mail.yahoo.com/ through your computer's web browser. The Yahoo inbox page will appear if you're already signed in to your account.
If not, enter your account email address and password when prompted
Step 2. Click the “Contacts” icon
It's an icon that looks like a notebook in the upper-right corner of the window. After that, the contact list will be opened in a new tab.
If you're using an older version of Yahoo, click the notebook icon with a human silhouette in the upper-left corner of the window
Step 3. Click Import Contacts
It's in the middle column of the “Contacts” page.
Step 4. Click Import on the right side of the "File Upload" heading
A pop-up window will appear after that.
Step 5. Click Choose file
It's at the top of the pop-up window. A File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) window will open.
Step 6. Select the VCF file
Click the VCF file that you want to open in Yahoo.
Step 7. Click Open
It's in the lower-right corner of the file browsing window. The VCF file will then be uploaded to a pop-up window.
Step 8. Click Import
It's at the bottom of the pop-up window. After that, the contact list from the file will be imported into your Yahoo account.
Method 4 of 4: Using Outlook on a Desktop Computer
Step 1. Open Outlook
Click or double-click the Outlook 2016 app icon, which looks like a white “O” on a dark blue background.
- Unfortunately, the Outlook website does not support VCF files.
- To import a vCard file on a Mac computer, click the file, click “ File ", choose " Open With, and click " Microsoft Outlook " After that, you can click “ Save & Close ' when prompted.
Step 2. Click File
It's in the upper-left corner of the window. A pop-out menu will appear after that.
Step 3. Click Open & Export
It's on the left side of the pop-out menu.

It's at the bottom of the pop-up window. A File Explorer window will open afterwards.

Click the VCF file that you want to import.

It's in the lower-right corner of the file browsing window. After that, the contacts from the VCF file will be imported into the Outlook address book.
