Want to create business cards quickly, but don't have expensive design software? Microsoft Word provides the tools you need to create and print business cards. Use templates to make business cards easy, yet personal, or create business cards from scratch. If you want to create a business card from scratch, use the Table feature to maintain the size of the business card.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Using Templates
Step 1. Click File > New
Create a new document from a business card template to create multiple professional business cards at once.
Step 2. Find a business card template by typing "business card" in the search field in the new document creation window
A variety of free templates that you can use for business cards will appear, both horizontally and vertically.
Step 3. Select the template you want to use
You can change any element of the template that you like, including colors, images, fonts, and layout. Choose the template that most closely resembles the image of a business card in your mind, then click Create or Download to open the template in Microsoft Word.
Step 4. Fill in the information on the first card
If you're using Office 2010 and up (and the template you're using is designed for Office 2010 and up), you'll see the text you enter appear across the business card on the page. Thus, you only need to fill in the information for one card only. If the template doesn't have this functionality, you will have to enter the data for each business card manually.
Step 5. Change the format of each element
You can replace any text on the business card, and change the text format. Change the font type, color, and size, as well as other settings, such as editing plain text properties.
Since you are making business cards, make sure you choose a typeface that is easy to read
Step 6. If necessary, replace the logo on the business card
If the business card template has a temporary logo, change the logo to your own. Resize the logo until it fits into the logo space, and make sure the logo still looks good after resizing.
Step 7. Edit the business card
Make sure the card doesn't contain typos or other errors. Business cards are first impressions, so make sure you don't make a bad first impression with a business card full of mistakes.
Step 8. Print the business card yourself, or send the file to a delivery service
To print your own business cards at home, use high-quality card paper. Choose white or a color with a white tone, then choose a paper texture. Most business cards are plain textured, but some people like the glossy texture. The printer can usually open your business card template and print it.
When buying paper for business cards, make sure the paper is supported by your printer. Check the printer's manual or the printer manufacturer's website for the paper types supported by the printer
Step 9. Use a special cutting tool to cut the business card after the card is finished printing
Generally, a sheet of paper can hold 10 business cards. Don't use scissors or other cutting tools that require you to maintain a straight line to cut the card, but use a special cutting tool. Most printers provide these tools, or provide cutting services.
The standard business card size in the US is 8.75cm x 5cm, or 5cm x 8.75cm for vertical cards
Method 2 of 2: Creating a Table
Step 1. Create a blank document
If you want to make your own business cards, use the table feature to make the process easier.
Step 2. Click the Page Layout tab, then click Margins
Select Narrow to slightly reduce the screen border, so that the business card fits on the sheet.
Step 3. Click Insert, then select Table
Multiple rows will appear below the Table button.
Step 4. Create a table 2 cells wide and 5 cells long with the rows appearing
Step 5. Right-click on the crosshairs cursor in the top-left corner of the table, then select Table Properties to open the Table Properties window
Step 6. Adjust the table layout to Center to make it easier for you to align business cards
Step 7. Click Row, then check the Specify Height box
Enter 2 , then select Exactly.
Step 8. Click Column, then check the Specify width box
Enter 3.5 then select Exactly.
Step 9. Look at the table
Now, you will see a table with business card-sized cells. If the table doesn't fit on the screen, you'll need to adjust the screen border by 0.25cm.
Step 10. Right-click on the crosshairs again, then click AutoFit, and select Fixed column width so that the table doesn't change size when you enter the information in the first cell
Step 11. Enter the information in the first cell
You can format information as you normally would, with Word's various tools. You can enter text or image boxes, change the font type and color, or use other formatting tools as usual.
Step 12. Edit the business card before copying the information to another cell
Make sure the card is free of typos or other errors, because if you edit later, you'll have to change each cell, instead of changing one cell before copying its contents.
Step 13. Once you are satisfied with the business card design, select the first cell by hovering over the lower right corner of the cell until the cursor turns into a diagonal arrow
Click a cell to select it, then copy its contents to the clipboard.
Step 14. Place the cursor in the next cell, then paste the contents of the first cell by clicking Paste on the Home tab, or by pressing Ctrl+V
The information you copied will appear in the right place in the cell. Repeat pasting the cell contents in each cell on the page.
Step 15. Right-click the crosshairs and select "Table Properties"
Click the "Borders and Shading" button and select "None" for the border (border). That way, the table border will not be visible when the business card is cut.
Step 16. Find suitable paper for business cards
Use good business card paper to print business cards, but make sure your printer supports the paper you purchased. You can also send the file to a printer to have it printed professionally.
Step 17. Use a special cutting tool to cut the business card after the card is finished printing
Generally, a sheet of paper can hold 10 business cards. Don't use scissors or other cutting tools that require you to maintain a straight line to cut the card, but use a special cutting tool. The standard business card size in the US is 8.75cm x 5cm.
