Microsoft Word document files can not automatically be directly read and edited with Android. To see it, you'll need to create a Google account and download Adobe Reader. This only takes a few minutes and you only need to do it once to be able to open the document on your phone at a later date.

Method 1 of 2: Opening a Google Account
Step 1. Open the Play Store
First, go to the application menu. It's at the bottom of your Android screen and looks like a white 4x4 square. Once you've clicked on the apps menu, look for the Play Store. The Play Store looks like a white bag with a colorful triangle in the middle.
Step 2. Create a Google account
If you already have a Google email address, tap “Yes” at the bottom of the screen. Enter your Account details.
If you don't have a Google account, you'll need to create one first. Select “New” at the bottom of the screen and follow the account creation instructions
Step 3. Use an existing account
If you already have a Google email address, tap “Already” at the bottom of the screen. Enter your account details.
Method 2 of 2: Setting Up Adobe Reader
Step 1. Search for Adobe Reader
Once your Google account setup is complete, go to the home screen by clicking the home button at the bottom of your phone screen. Then, press the microphone button in the upper right corner of the screen. This will open the search screen. Type "Adobe Reader". The first search list will be Adobe Reader and it will look like a small red box with the Adobe symbol to the left of the application name.
Step 2. Install Adobe Reader
Click the Adobe Reader application that appears in the search list. Next you will be in the App Store which provides a complete description of the Adobe Reader App product.
- Click "Install" located at the top right of your phone screen. The button should be green.
- The access page will appear. Click Accept at the bottom of the screen to install Adobe Reader.
- Downloading this app can take up to a few minutes to complete.
Step 3. Try opening your document either via an email attachment or directly from a website
Find the document then click to open. Another screen will open and ask what app you want to use. Select “Adobe Reader”, then select “Always” at the bottom of the Prompt.
Step 4. Open all your documents
Now, you can open the desired Word document on Android.
