Method 1 of 4: Adding Comments by Right Click

Step 1. Double-click the Word document you want to convert to open it in Microsoft Word

Step 2. Click and drag the cursor over the part of the text you want to comment on, such as a specific sentence or paragraph
The text you selected will be marked.

Step 3. Right-click, or click with two fingers on your selected text to display the menu

Step 4. Click New Comment at the bottom of the menu that appears

Step 5. Enter your comments
The comments will appear on the right side of the Word window.

Step 6. Click any part of the document to apply the changes
After that, you can comment on other parts of the text.
Make sure you save the document before closing it so that your comments are saved
Method 2 of 4: Adding Comments with the Track Changes Feature

Step 1. Double-click the Word document you want to convert to open it in Microsoft Word

Step 2. Click the Review tab
This tab is in the blue section above the document. The document editing menu will appear on the screen.

Step 3. Click the Track Changes button at the top center of the Word window
The Track Changes feature will be active.

Step 4. Click the box next to Track Changes to select editing options
You can choose between the following editing options:
- Simple Markup - Shows a red line in the left corner of added or removed text, but shows no other edits.
- All Markup - Displays all changes you made to the document in red text, and a comment box on the left side of the page.
- No Markup - Displays your changes along with the original, but is not marked with a comment box or red text.
- Original - Displays the original document, without changes.

Step 5. Click All Markup to leave a comment that other users can read if needed

Step 6. Click and drag the cursor on the part of the text you want to comment on, such as a particular sentence or paragraph

Step 7. Click the New Comment button in the middle of the Review line in the middle of the Word window

The comments will appear on the right side of the Word window.

Step 7. Write your comments in the panel on the right of the page
- If your computer does not have a touch screen, write comments with the mouse.
- The horizontal line in the comments pane will disappear when you post a comment.
