This wikiHow teaches you how to invite someone from your contact list to download and use WhatsApp.

Method 1 of 2: Using iPhone
Step 1. Open the WhatsApp application
This app is marked by a green icon with a phone logo and a white chat bubble.
If this is your first time opening the WhatsApp app on your phone, you will need to adjust the app settings first
Step 2. Touch the Settings button
It's in the lower-right corner of the screen.
If the application immediately displays the chat, first touch the " Back " button in the upper left corner of the screen
Step 3. Scroll down and select Tell a Friend
It's at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4. Select Messages
It's in the middle of the pop-up window.
You can also choose other invitation options, such as “Facebook” or “Twitter”, but they don't allow you to send direct messages to a single person or group of friends
Step 5. Select the friends you want to invite
You can choose as many friends as you want to invite to WhatsApp.
- The names or contacts displayed in this window are your iPhone contacts who are not using WhatsApp yet.
- To search for a specific contact, use the search bar shown at the top of the screen.
Step 6. Touch Send [number of selected contacts] Invites
It's in the lower-right corner of the screen. After that, a new message window containing the WhatsApp link will be displayed.
If you choose only one name, you will see the words “Send 1 Invite”
Step 7. Touch the shipping arrow icon
The green (short message) or blue (iMessage) icon is on the right side of the text window, at the bottom of the screen. Once touched, a WhatsApp invitation for the person (or multiple people) you have selected will be sent. If they download and use WhatsApp, you can contact them through the WhatsApp app.
Method 2 of 2: Using Android
Step 1. Open the WhatsApp application

Step 2. Touch
You can see the button in the top right corner of the screen.
If the application directly displays the chat, touch the button ← in the top-left corner of the screen first.
Step 3. Select Settings
It's at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Select Contacts
You can see these options at the bottom of the page.
Step 5. Select Invite a Friend
It's at the top of the page.
Step 6. Select Messages
It's in the middle of the pop-up window.
You can also choose other invitation options, such as “Facebook” or “Twitter”, although these methods do not allow you to send invitations to a single person or group of friends directly
Step 7. Select the name of the contact you want to invite
You can select as many contacts as you want.
- The names or contacts displayed in this window are contacts who have not used WhatsApp.
- Use the search bar at the top of the screen to search for a specific contact.
Step 8. Touch Send [number of selected contacts] Invites
It's in the lower-right corner of the screen. After that, a new message window containing the WhatsApp link will be displayed.

After that, invitations will be sent to the people who have been selected. If they download WhatsApp, they will be added to your WhatsApp contact list automatically.
