By syncing your wireless Xbox controller to your Xbox console, you can play games comfortably without having to tidy up or tangle in cables while playing. You can sync a wireless Xbox controller with an Xbox One or Xbox 360 console.

Method 1 of 2: Syncing Controller with Xbox One Console
Step 1. Turn on the Xbox One console
Step 2. Make sure the controller still has battery
Step 3. Press and hold the Xbox button on the controller to turn it on
The light on the Xbox button will flash to indicate that the controller hasn't synced with the Xbox One.
Step 4. Press and release the “connect” button on the left side of the Xbox One console
Step 5. Press and hold the “connect” button on the controller within 20 seconds after you press the “connect” button on the Xbox One console
The “connect” button is in the upper-left corner of the controller.
Step 6. Keep holding the “connect” button on the controller until the light on the Xbox button flashes quickly
The controller is successfully synced with the console when the light is on constantly.
Method 2 of 2: Syncing Controller with Xbox 360 Console
Step 1. Turn on the Xbox 360 console
Step 2. Make sure the controller still has battery
Step 3. Press and hold the Xbox button on the controller to turn it on
Step 4. Press and release the “connect” button on the Xbox 360 console
On the 360 E and 360 S consoles, the “connect” button is below and to the right of the power button. On the original Xbox console, the “connect” button is a small circle and is to the left of the power button.
Step 5. Press and release the “connect” button on the controller within 20 seconds after you press the “connect” button on the Xbox 360 console
The “connect” button is in the upper-left corner of the controller.
Step 6. Wait for the controller to automatically connect to the console
The light on the controller will stop flashing once the controller has successfully synced with the Xbox 360.
