This wikiHow teaches you how to turn off the “OK Google” feature on an Android phone. “OK Google” is a voice command that the Google voice assistant responds to and allows you to ask questions or give commands via voice. You can turn off the “OK Google” feature and still use Google voice commands, but you need to press a button to manually activate Google voice assistant.

Step 1. Open the Google app
This app is marked by a white icon with a colorful “G” in the middle.
Step 2. Touch
It's the three-line icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Step 3. Touch
Select the "Settings" option next to the gear icon in the second options section.
Step 4. Swipe the screen and touch Voice
It's in the lower half of the "Search" segment.
Step 5. Touch "Ok Google" detection
The second option from above is in the "Voice" settings menu.
Step 6. Touch "Say "Ok Google" anytime " switch to off position or “'OFF'”
