Method 1 of 2: Using the “Software Update” Feature
Step 1. Back up files from iPad
Usually, an iOS update will not cause any data loss. However, keep in mind that sometimes crashes or problems can occur.
Step 2. Connect the iPad to a power source
Use the charging cable that came with your device purchase to connect iPad to a wall outlet or desktop computer.
Step 3. Connect the device to WiFi
In order for a sufficiently large iOS update to be downloaded, the iPad must be connected to a WiFi network.
Step 4. Open the iPad settings menu (“Settings”)
Step 5. Swipe screen and touch

Step 6. Touch Software Update

Step 1. Download the latest version of iTunes

Step 3. Connect the iPad to the computer
Use the cable that came with your device purchase and connect the USB end to the computer, and the Lightning end or 30-pin connector to the iPad's charging port.
If iTunes doesn't start automatically, open iTunes on your computer manually
