Generally, when processed, sausages are still in a raw condition. Therefore, you must cook the sausage before consuming it. If the sausage is grilled to perfection, it will be crunchy on the outside, and full of meaty flavor on the inside.
Ingredients
- Sausage, to taste.
- Water, cooking wine, or broth.
- Onions and seasonings to taste (optional).
Step
Method 1 of 2: Boiling Sausage before Cooking
Step 1. Boil the sausages for 10-15 minutes before grilling
This process, known as parboiling, will make the roasting process easier, and save cooking time because you don't have to burn the sausage for too long. So that the sausage is ready to burn, you can boil it first.
- Place the sausages in the saucepan, and place the pot on the stove. Pour in the seasoned water until the sausage is completely submerged. If you like, you can also use chicken/beef stock, beer, or cooking wine.
- Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat until the whole sausage is gray.
Step 2. Grill the sausages immediately after boiling, or wrap the boiled sausages in the refrigerator
You can boil sausages 2 days before baking. If you want, you can also freeze the boiled sausage. Sausages can last in the freezer for 2-3 months.
Step 3. Determine the sausage burning point on the burner
Make sure that this point allows the sausage to slowly turn brown.
Step 4. Flip the sausage with tongs once the sides are golden brown
Be careful when turning the sausage so that the skin of the sausage is not damaged. The sausage skin retains the flavor of the sausage, and keeps the sausage cooked evenly.
Step 5. Test the sausage with a meat thermometer to make sure it is cooked through
Pork sausages should be cooked to 65 degrees Celsius, while poultry sausages (such as chicken/duck) should be cooked to 70 degrees Celsius.
Method 2 of 2: Burning Sausage Directly
Step 1. Grill the sausages as soon as they are purchased
Sausages can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. If you must store sausages for a long period of time, store them in the freezer.
Step 2. Place the sausages on the grill over medium heat to give the skin some flavor
Don't forget to periodically turn the sausage with tongs until all sides are golden brown or dark brown. Don't let your grilled sausage turn black or burn.
Step 3. Move the sausage to a point where it is not exposed to direct heat, then close the burner if it can be closed
Step 4. Cook the sausage until it reaches the right temperature
Test the sausage with a meat thermometer to make sure it is cooked through.
Tips
- Do not fill the burner with sausage. Leave space around the sausage so that the smoke from the combustion can seep in and cook the sausage.
- Serve grilled sausages with bread, peppers, onions, tomato sauce, cheese, or barbecue sauce.
- You can also serve grilled sausage with potato salad.
Warning
- Place the uneaten grilled sausage in the refrigerator 2-3 hours after cooking. Grilled sausages can last in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. If you must store sausages for a long period of time, store them in the freezer.
- Wash your hands with hot water and soap after handling raw sausage and before touching other foodstuffs, especially fresh fruit and vegetables that will be eaten raw.
- Defrost frozen sausages by placing them in the refrigerator, or reheat sausages directly in the microwave. Do not thaw frozen sausages at room temperature.
