Learn how to bake cakes without an oven or microwave, with just a pan in the kitchen.
Step
Step 1. Turn on the stove with a large burn
You can also use a regular stove that you have.
Step 2. Place the pot on the stove
You can use a stainless steel or aluminum cooking pot with a wide mouth for grilling. Preheat the pan for five minutes.
Step 3. Find something that can be used as a template
You can use a heavy-bottomed aluminum or stainless steel pan or pan with a wide mouth. You can even use an unused pan as a cake mold.
Step 4. Place the mold on the base
You can use the rack and pan used to make the dhokla, but if you're using a regular pan, simply place an upside-down plate in the center of the baking pan as the base.
Step 5. Pour the cake batter into the mould
Place the mold on the base that is in the pan. Cover the pot and turn on low heat.
Step 6. Bake the cake over low heat for 35-40 minutes, or until the knife inserted into the dough looks clean after pulling it out
Tips
If the recipe calls for 35 minutes of baking time, bake the dough in the pan for another 35 minutes
Warning
- If you are using a stainless steel pan for baking or as a mold, preheat the pan before baking for only two minutes.
- If you're cooking half of the original recipe, simply preheat the pan for two minutes.
- Do not put cake molds in a pan without a bottom.
- You can also use an old candy cane as a mold, if you prefer.
