Having a cold beer is a great way to cool off after work or to make a party more festive. However, if you don't have a bottle opener, it will be difficult to drink the beer! Fortunately, locks are a good solution to this problem. You can easily open a beer bottle cap by simply opening the cap or prying the rim!
Step
Method 1 of 2: Directly Opening Bottle Caps
Step 1. Grasp the neck of the bottle with your non-dominant hand
Grip the bottle tightly so it doesn't slide when pushed. Don't grip the bottle too tightly, grip it tightly so it doesn't fall!
Step 2. Place a strong key, such as a car key, under the bottle cap
Do not use cabinet keys or house keys. Choose a strong and large key such as a car key or an office key. Instead, choose a lock that has a fairly large number of serrations at the ends. This lock can be placed under the serrations of the bottle cap more easily.
Step 3. Turn the key up until the bottle cap sounds open
Move the key with your dominant hand so that it turns toward you. Move the key like when starting a car. As it is placed under the bottle cap, the lock will open the bottle when turned!
Step 4. If the bottle doesn't open right away, try on the other side of the cap
Depending on the type of bottle cap, the strength of the lock, and your skill, it may not open right away the first time you do it. If the cap doesn't open, twist the bottle and try again on the other side of the cap!
Method 2 of 2: Prying the Rim of the Bottle Cap Open
Step 1. Notice the bent serrations of the bottle cap
If there's a slightly bent serration on the bottle cap, start there! If you can't find it, you can start by prying the teeth of any bottle cap.
Step 2. Place the end of the key under the serrations of the bottle cap
Insert the end of the key so that it is slightly under the serrations of the bottle cap. It's okay if the key doesn't go in completely - you just need a small gap.
Step 3. Turn the key until the serrations of the bottle cap are bent upwards
Turn the key back and forth in a gentle but firm motion until the serrations of the bottle cap bend. Do not press the cleats of the bottle cap inward - the cleats should bend outward or upward once this process is complete.
Step 4. Repeat until at least 4 serrations are bent upwards
Keep turning the wrench under the bottle cap serrations until the 4 serrations bend outward or upward. Make sure the bent teeth are next to each other - this won't work if the bent teeth are scattered around the bottle cap.
Step 5. Hold the bottle tightly with your left hand
You should grip the bottle tightly but do not endanger yourself or others. Don't grip it too tightly, the bottle might break!
Step 6. Push the end of the wrench under the bent serrations of the bottle cap
Press the end of the wrench under the bent serrations of the bottle cap as far as it will go. It's okay if not all of the key pieces make it inside. You only need a small gap for the key to open the bottle cap.
Step 7. Push the lock up until the bottle cap opens
Hold the key tightly with your right hand, then push it up until the bottle cap opens. Don't push too hard. If it is too strong, the bottle cap may be damaged!
Tips
- Be careful when handling bottle cap serrations. The serrations of the bottle cap can be very sharp!
- Before opening it with a key, make sure the bottle cap cannot be opened by turning.
- If you don't have a bottle opener, buy a bottle opener that can be used as a key ring for easy portability!
