Broken legs really spoil your fun. However, if you're stuck at home because of it, there are still things you can do to have fun during your recovery. Take the time to decorate your cast, learn something new, or do something creative.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Decorating the Cast
Step 1. Paint something fun
Turn your cast into something pretty. Choose any image you like. Many people turn a cast on their leg into their favorite superhero, but you can also take inspiration from your favorite snacks and drinks, sports teams, cities, or landscapes.
- If you are not good at drawing, you can ask for help from an expert friend. You can ask him to draw with a permanent marker, then you fill it with color using paint.
- We recommend using a permanent paint such as acrylic. If you use spray paint, be sure to cover the skin with some kind of protection, such as a plastic bag.
Step 2. Draw using a permanent marker
Instead of paint, try drawing a pattern on the plaster using a permanent marker. If you're not very good at drawing, start with a black marker, and draw random intersecting lines. Fill in the resulting gaps using your favorite color.
Step 3. Have people sign your cast
Of course, one of the classic ways to have fun with a cast is to have people sign it. If you want to do something more unique, have people draw on the cast instead of just signing it. Everyone can add something to the overall picture.
Step 4. Use decorative tape
From washi tape to decorative tape, there are many different colors and patterns to choose from. If you're not an artistic person, this tape can be used to make your cast more vibrant and colorful.
Method 2 of 4: Doing Fun Activities
Step 1. Indulge in front of the television
If you have cable television, there are many viewing options to choose from. Otherwise, try using a streaming service. Many streaming services offer a wide variety of movies and television shows for a paid monthly membership. Choose a service or two, and you can watch them on your computer, smart television, or streaming device to watch on television.
Step 2. Read a book
If you have an e-reader and a library card, there is a wide selection of books to read. Just log in to the library site and find the e-books section. Most libraries have e-books that can be read within a certain period of time (usually 2 weeks).
Step 3. Play a board game
When trapped at home, does not mean you have to be bored to death. Try inviting some friends to play together. Ask them what games they want to play (and if they have one, if you don't). After that, you can order pizza while you guys are playing together.
Step 4. Try to solve the puzzle
All kinds of puzzles can be fun, from word puzzles to jigsaw puzzles. You can look up crossword puzzles in newspapers or the internet, or buy the book at a bookstore. You can also try to buy a sudoku puzzle book at the same time.
Step 5. Find new music
Many sites offer free music that can be listened to without limits. For example, using Spotify you can listen to thousands of albums on your computer for free, although sometimes they will be punctuated by advertisements. Using Pandora, you can create a custom radio station by entering the music you like, then Pandora will add similar songs to the station. Both of these services are available for free on your computer, and you can pay to remove ads.
Step 6. Try a workout at the gym
If someone can take you to the gym, try using a resistance machine for the upper body, such as the lat pull down. You can also do weight lifting, such as the shoulder press and bench press, as well as other exercises, such as ab crunches. If you can, use the services of a personal trainer who can guide you to practice while you have a broken leg.
Method 3 of 4: Channeling Creativity
Step 1. Keep yourself busy with coloring books for adults
Coloring is no longer just for kids. You can find many coloring books for adults at bookstores or the internet. Otherwise, many of the site's pages can be printed for free.
Coloring can reduce stress so that it provides more benefits
Step 2. Create unlimited crafts
If you like creative activities, try assembling something while lying down from a broken leg. You'll need help with preparing the materials and supplies, but when you're ready, you can make whatever you want.
If you need ideas to get started, try visiting sites like Martha Stewart or Pinterest
Step 3. Start a personal blog
While lying down with a broken leg, you are free to use the computer at all times. Blogs are a great way to keep your mind busy, and many sites allow you to host one for free, such as Blogger. Write about your life, or start a blog in your area of expertise. The content of your blog can vary, from cooking to parenting techniques.
Step 4. Try writing
If blogging isn't for you, try writing on paper. Write a novel that has been on your mind for years, or if you want to write some poetry. If you need inspiration, try reading e-books about writing.
Step 5. Try knitting
If you've never knitted before, give it a try. You'll need some basic materials and supplies, including knitting needles, wool yarn, and scissors. You can find many knitting tutorials on the internet. Try browsing videos on YouTube for starters.
- Get the I-9 hook. Knitting hooks are listed as either the letter (I) or the number (9), although many list both. Code I-9 is a medium-to-large hook and is suitable for beginners.
- Choose a medium-weight wool yarn (numbered "4"). Try choosing solid, bright colored yarn to start with.
- Have scissors nearby to cut the thread.
Method 4 of 4: Taking Time to Study
Step 1. Learn a foreign language
If you have a mobile phone, use the app to learn a new language. One of the most popular and free apps is Duolingo.
- Many of these programs are presented in the form of games so that they are still interesting.
- If you don't have a cell phone, use a tablet or computer.
Step 2. Learn coding
Coding is a coveted skill in many fields so this knowledge will add value to you. Many sites on the internet offer free classes, such as Code Academy or W3 Schools.
Some lessons are packaged like games, while others (like W3 Schools) are really easy-to-read tutorials
Step 3. Take an online course
Develop your mind by taking online classes from various lecturers around the world. Many sites offer online courses where you can listen to lectures, interact with fellow students, or even earn certificates in various topics. Try visiting Khan Academy or Coursera for starters.
