Pikachu can be called the most famous Pokémon to date. Therefore, it's no wonder that Pokémon trainers want to have one on their Pokémon GO team. Luckily, Pokémon trainers have the opportunity to take advantage of a secret in Pokémon GO that allows them to catch Pikachu early in the game!
Step
Method 1 of 2: Getting Pikachu as a Starter Pokémon
Step 1. Start a new game
If you've already started your journey as a Pokémon trainer, you'll need to start a new game to apply this trick.
Step 2. Stay away from the three types of starter Pokémon that appear
When starting a new game on your new account, Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charmander will appear on the screen for capture. If you catch one of the three, the other Pokémon will disappear along with your chance to get a Pikachu. So, walk away from the three Pokémon until they are out of sight.
Step 3. Wait for the Pokémon to reappear, then walk away again
When you've walked far enough, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander will reappear on the map. Don't mind them and just keep walking away.
Step 4. Repeat this process three times, then wait for Pikachu to appear
After rejecting three starter Pokémon three times, Pikachu will appear alongside the other Pokémon on the fourth try.
Step 5. Approach Pikachu to enter into “capture” mode
Instead of getting closer to one of the three Pokémon, walk up to Pikachu and tap the image.
Step 6. Throw a Pokéball at Pikachu to catch it
When you do this, the other three Pokémon will disappear, making Pikachu the first Pokémon to join your group. Very cool start!
Method 2 of 2: Catching Pikachu in the Wild
Step 1. Look for Pikachu in the power station area or science museum
Catching Pikachu in the wild is a little more difficult, but it's possible. This Pokémon can appear anywhere, but it is said to appear frequently near power plants and science museums, perhaps because Pikachu is synonymous with electricity. If you know of a power plant or other power source, these are the places to visit first.
Step 2. Wait until midnight
Pokémon trainers are known to be able to find Pikachu until 3 in the morning. Wait until late at night to increase your chances of finding Pikachu in the wild.
Step 3. Check the list of Pokémon near you
When Pikachu gets close, you'll see its silhouette appear in the side menu in the lower-right corner of your screen.
Step 4. Check the grass for noise
If you see Pikachu's silhouette on the nearby Pokémon list and a picture of grass rustling on the map, you might be in luck. Go to the grass location and a Pikachu may appear.
Step 5. Touch the Pikachu image to enter “capture” mode
This is the time to catch it!
Step 6. Throw a Pokéball at Pikachu to catch it
Swing the Pokéball at Pikachu to try to catch it. If you don't miss and Pikachu doesn't escape from the ball, the Pokémon will be yours!
