Modern lipsticks are made with various chemicals based on petroleum, natural oils, and artificial colors. If the lipstick settles somewhere other than the lips, the solid color can stain that spot permanently. Luckily, you can get rid of the stain if you act quickly.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Using Hairspray
Step 1. Check the lipstick on the cloth
Make sure once again whether your fabric requires special treatment or not. If so, do not intentionally spray hairspray on the lipstick because the stain on the fabric will get worse.
Step 2. Spray directly onto the stain
Use hairspray with any formula and spray directly on the lipstick stain. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 3. Use a clean cloth and warm water
Wet a washcloth with warm water, and start scrubbing away the lipstick stain. The lipstick dye will be absorbed by the rag, so use a cloth you don't really use and it's okay to throw it away.
Step 4. Rinse your cloth
This method may not be able to clean all lipstick stains, because it depends on the depth of color in the lipstick stain. If this happens, follow up by using dish soap. This combination is gentle enough that it won't damage your outfit. Once the stain is completely gone, you can safely dry the cloth.
Method 2 of 4: Using Dish Soap
Step 1. Check the lipstick on the cloth
If your clothes are stained with lipstick, check the clothing label to determine the type of fabric. Many clothes require special care, such as dry cleaning, so you may need to take your clothes to a professional washer. If your clothes don't require special treatment, go ahead and clean the lipstick stain yourself at home.
Step 2. Use a clean cloth or tissue paper
Make sure that you use something you don't mind throwing away, as this will be used to absorb the lipstick color that's stuck to your clothes.
Step 3. Place the lipstick-affected object on the tissue paper
Face the stained side down toward the tissue paper. Before you begin, remember that the key to removing stains is to work gently from the outer edge of the stain inward.
Step 4. Apply mild dish soap on the stained area
You can use any dish soap that is specially made to get rid of grease. Apply the soap to a paper towel or rag if you wish. After the tissue or cloth is smeared with dish soap, let it sit for about 10 minutes.
Step 5. Apply pressure to the lipstick stain
After the dish soap has been left on for 10 minutes, use a paper towel to apply pressure to the stain. You can rub it, but do it gently so you don't damage the clothes. This will force the soap and lipstick stain to soak into the tissue paper underneath. Replace the tissue paper you placed under the stain if necessary. If you leave it on for too long, the lipstick stain will spread instead of disappearing.
Step 6. Wash and rinse your fabric
Once the lipstick stain is gone, rinse the cloth with water. Wash as usual and check to make sure the stain is gone. If the stain has not disappeared, repeat the cleaning process with this dish soap. When the stain is gone, your clothes are ready to dry.
Method 3 of 4: Removing Stains on Furniture Upholstery
Step 1. Scrape off the clumpy lipstick
If the lipstick clumps, use a knife or plastic spoon to remove it. When doing this, try not to spread the stain on the upholstery of your furniture.
Step 2. Use a clean cloth
Apply the toothpaste on a clean cloth and rub it evenly about 2.5 cm wide on the cloth. You can use whatever toothpaste you have on hand.
Step 3. Scrub the stain
With a cloth that has been smeared with toothpaste, start scrubbing. Add toothpaste if the toothpaste starts to run out. As you scrub, you will notice that the stain will gradually start to disappear from the furniture and move onto your rag.
Step 4. Clean the upholstery of your furniture
After the lipstick color is gone from the upholstery of the furniture, there may still be some toothpaste left behind. Wet the area and wipe it clean. You may have to do this a few times to remove any remaining toothpaste, but this will keep your upholstery clean.
Method 4 of 4: Removing Lipstick from Hard Surfaces
Step 1. Identify the surface of the object that is exposed to lipstick
Lipstick stains can stick to hard surfaces such as acrylic plastic, glass, porcelain plates, stainless steel, vinyl, and so on. As soon as you see a stain, grab a rag, dish soap, and ammonia.
Step 2. Wet the rag
Wet your kitchen rag with warm water that has been mixed with soap. Rub the lipstick stain in small, circular motions. After 5 to 10 minutes, rinse thoroughly and dry with a cloth.
Step 3. Add ammonia
If the stain doesn't go away, add a few drops of ammonia to your rag. Wet your rag again with water that has been mixed with soap and rub it on the lipstick stained object.
Step 4. Rinse thoroughly and dry
Rinse and wipe clean using a clean cloth. This will remove any remaining lipstick stain on the surface of the hard object.
