False eyelashes can be quite expensive. So you may want to use it more than once. If you want to use false eyelashes again, there are various options that you can consider. You can clean false eyelashes with a cotton swab or cotton ball. You can also use tweezers and a plastic container with makeup remover to gently remove the false eyelashes. When you're done, store your false eyelashes in a cool, dry place.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Cleaning with a Cotton Ball
Step 1. Prepare your equipment
Before starting to clean false eyelashes, prepare in advance the equipment needed. To use this method, you need:
- Special eye makeup remover
- Alcohol liquid
- cotton ball
- Ear plugs/cotton pen
- Clamp
Step 2. Wash your hands
To start, wash your hands with clean tap water and antibacterial soap. Do not touch false eyelashes with dirty hands as this can cause eye infections.
- Wet your hands with clean running water. Soap your hands with antibacterial soap for about 20 seconds. Be sure to clean the area between your fingers, the back of your hand, and under your nails.
- Rinse your hands with clean water and then dry them with a clean towel.
Step 3. Remove false eyelashes
Before starting to clean it, carefully remove the false eyelashes first. Use fingertips instead of fingernails or tongs, which can damage lashes.
- Hold the eyelashes tightly with your thumb and index finger.
- Peel the bone / base inwards slowly. False eyelashes should come off easily.
Step 4. Wet a cotton ball with makeup remover and run it along the false eyelashes
Take a cotton ball. Wet with makeup remover. Gently run along the false eyelashes. Wipe the cotton ball from the base to the tip of the lashes. Make sure to remove the adhesive layer as well. Do this step until all the makeup has been removed.
Step 5. Repeat on the other side
Flip the false eyelashes. Take a new cotton ball and moisten it with makeup remover. Then, repeat the process as in the step above, wiping the cotton ball along the opposite side of the lash. Again, wipe the cotton ball from the base to the tip of the false lashes. Make sure to remove the adhesive layer as well. Make sure all the rest of the makeup is removed successfully.
Step 6. Use tongs to clean off the remaining adhesive
Usually, there will still be a small amount of glue stuck to the eyelash bone. You can use tongs to clean it.
- Check to see if there is any adhesive left on the false eyelashes. If you see any glue remaining, take the tongs. Use one of your hands to pull the glue out with the tongs. Meanwhile, hold the false eyelashes with your other hand on your fingertips.
- Make sure to only pull the glue off with tongs. Pulling the lashes can damage them.
Step 7. Dip a new cotton ball in the rubbing alcohol and rub it over the false eyelashes
You should make sure that there is no more glue or makeup left on the lashes. Dip a cotton ball in the rubbing alcohol and run it along the false eyelashes. Besides being useful for removing residual glue, alcohol will also disinfect false eyelashes so they are safe to use again in the future.
Method 2 of 3: Using Plastic Containers
Step 1. Prepare your equipment
Before starting, be sure to prepare the equipment. You will need the following equipment:
- Plastic containers, such as small Tupperware containers
- Eye makeup remover
- Clamp
- Tissue
- Eyelash comb
Step 2. Wash your hands
As usual, you should wash your hands first so that the false eyelashes don't get infected with bacteria. Be sure to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with clean water and antibacterial soap. Don't forget to clean under your nails, between your fingers, and the backs of your hands. When you're done, rinse, and dry your hands with a clean towel.
Step 3. Remove false eyelashes
Be sure to remove the false eyelashes after washing your hands. You should remove false eyelashes with your fingertips instead of nails or curlers. Hold the false eyelashes with your thumb and index finger and pull the bone inward. False eyelashes should come off easily.
Step 4. Place the false eyelashes in the container
Simply place the false eyelashes side by side in the container.
Step 5. Pour the makeup remover into the container
Pour about a tablespoon of makeup remover into the container. If the container you're using is larger, you may need to pour in more makeup remover. Use enough makeup remover so that the false lashes can be soaked in.
Step 6. Set the container aside for 5 minutes
Place the container in a safe place out of reach of children or pets. Make sure not to leave the container for more than 5 minutes. If left too long, false eyelashes can be damaged.
Step 7. Lift the false eyelashes with a curler
After 5 minutes, gently remove the false eyelashes from the container. Place it on a clean paper towel. Be sure to place the tissue on a clean, flat surface.
Step 8. Remove the glue from the eyelashes with a curler
Hold the false eyelashes with your thumb and index finger. Use tweezers to remove any remaining glue on the false eyelashes. Remember to only pull on the glue with tongs and never pull on the strands. Pulling the lashes can cause them to break.
Step 9. Clean the container and pour in the makeup remover again
Rinse the container thoroughly, then pour in the makeup remover again. No need to pour in as much makeup remover as before. Just pour in the makeup remover so it lightly coats the bottom of the container.
Step 10. Pull the false eyelashes in the makeup remover with a curler
Prepare tongs. Use it to pull the false eyelashes back and forth in the case. Slide the false eyelashes to the right and left of the container. Then, flip the false eyelashes and repeat this step on the other side.
Step 11. Repeat until the false eyelashes are clean
Empty the container, pour in more makeup remover, and pull out the false lashes repeatedly with the curler. Keep repeating this step until the makeup remover dries as the false eyelashes are pulled through. This is a sign that the false eyelashes are completely clean.
Step 12. Place the false eyelashes on a clean tissue and allow to dry
Once the false eyelashes are clean, set them aside in a safe place to dry. You should place the false eyelashes on a layer like a tissue. Be sure to place it in a safe place, out of reach of children and pets.
Step 13. Trim false eyelashes with an eyelash comb
Use an eyelash comb to comb through the false eyelashes. Don't skip this step. Combing your cleaned false eyelashes will help keep them in shape.
Method 3 of 3: Storing False Eyelashes Safely
Step 1. Allow the false eyelashes to dry completely before storing
You should not store false eyelashes that are still wet. It's best to leave the false eyelashes for about an hour before storing them.
Step 2. Put the false eyelashes back in their case
It's best to keep false eyelashes in their original box. Do not just put false eyelashes on the makeup table because dust will stick to the surface and this can trigger eye infections.
If the original case is gone, try using a contact lens case. You can also buy false eyelash storage boxes online
Step 3. Keep it in a dark place
False eyelashes should be kept away from direct sunlight. Exposure to direct sunlight can change the color of false eyelashes. So, make sure to store it in a dark place so the color doesn't change.
